Anthony Reveillere may face an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a calf injury in the warm-up ahead of the Tyne-Wear derby. The French defender had to pull out of the game at the last minute, with Sebastian Coates stepping up from the bench to replace him in Sunderlandâs starting XI. Reveillere went for a scan and was due to undergo another today, but Black Catsâ boss Gus Poyetâs early prognosis was grim. He said after the match: âIt looks very bad. âAnthony went to have a check-up and a MRI and he will have another. âIt is not a normal injury when you can say he has pulled a muscle or had a problem with his achilles. âHe felt something really strange so we will wait and see.â Poyet must decide whether to bring full-back Billy Jones back for the home game against Hull City on Boxing Day. Jones has been out since October with hamstring trouble but has returned to full training. Sunderlandâs derby win was only their third victory of the season but Poyet says it has to be a turning point for the club. He added: âWe should not be talking about one win. It has to be a change. âNext week, everybody should be fully confident so we need to win our home game against Hull. âThat could be one which changes the season. Not yesterday, but winning two or three games in a row.â We get no luck with fullbacks.
This is a bollock. Big shame we are constantly mssing our full-backs. Hopefully jones comes back soon for an extended period and Paddy isn't too far away. Fullback close to the shopping list once again.
