United's second string began their pre-season programme behind closed doors at Darsley Park on Thursday, beating an Accies side who had overcome the mackems by the same scoreline earlier in the week. 3-0 ahead at the break, United's opening two goals came from an un-named overseas trialist who impressed in a left wing role and found the net in the sixth and 24th minute. The Chronicle have named that player as Anthony Koura from French League Two side Le Mans - a 19 year-old attacker who broke into their senior team during last season and made half a dozen substitute appearances. Capped at various youth levels for his country, Koura is said to have trained with United this week - which fits in with his non-appearance in the Le Mans side beaten in a friendly on Wednesday and not included in the squad for another first team kickabout on Friday. United coach Willie Donachie commented after the win that a deal was possible if the price was right. Given that Le Mans are in negotiations with the French Football Federation over their financial viability to play in the league this coming season - and have already sold one player this week for £550K - that could happen. Seems this kid is good. Anybody heard much about him? Just come across it myself on NUFC.com
Not heard of him but what you posted up sounds very promising. Carr & co doing another great piece of scouting?
Obviously been added recently - but this is from Wiki: Anthony Koura (born 6 May 1993 in Le Mans) is a French football player who currently plays for French club Le Mans in Ligue 2. He plays as a striker and is a France youth international having earned caps at all levels for which he has been eligible for. With the under-17 team, Koura played at the 2010 UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship.[1] On 9 June 2011, after featuring with the club's reserve team in the Championnat de France amateur for two straight seasons, he signed his first professional contract agreeing to a three-year deal.[2][3] Koura was, subsequently, promoted to the senior team permanently for the 2011–12 season and was assigned the number 11 shirt. He made his professional debut on 26 August 2011 appearing as a substitute in a 1–0 league defeat to Châteauroux.[4] Koura trialled with English Premier League club Newcastle United in July 2012 and scored two goals in a pre-season friendly 3-1 win against Scottish side Hamilton Academicals. Looks like he's had 7 appearances + 1 goal for Le Mans. Full name Anthony Koura Date of birth (1993-05-06) 6 May 1993 (age 19) Place of birth Le Mans, France Height 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in) Playing position Striker 44 appearances for France at U16 - U19 levels bagging 19 gls, which looks like a very impressive ratio.
