so with today's news! This is the exact reason why not to get involved to heavily in the ante post betting! Even tho this year but have only Had lots of little bets around! So with today's news alotnof people will be back to do the drawing board who if anyone will be getting involved in the new races
Interesting post Wooly my man.I only do the odd ante post bet and will only back something in double digits and put a score/fifty on it max.doubles/multiples etc not for me,will be short priced anyway and most bookies these days do all sorts of specials on the day.Had a couple of mates who got burnt badly today for a few hundred quid, madness I tell thee.I backed Min last year based purely on a couple of tips and it's the only time I've ever done so without seeing a horse run so it was a one off.
Think I posted this somewhere on here before... I learned my lesson after doing (or not doing) my antepost dough three times on the same horse, the great Hurricane Fly. Backed him heavily in 2010 (never made it to Chelts). Left him alone in 2011 (won!!). Finally I backed him heavily again in 2012 (the race where Ruby and McCoy thought they were the only ones in the race!!) Never again.
Did the same with Don Cossack last season - backed him ante post 33s for the Gold Cup, he runs Ryanair so done my dough. ThenI back him in the Ryanair and he finishes 3rd. Then I left him alone at Aintree and Punchestown and he won both. ****ing animal
The only saving grace is that a lot of the firms have been NRNB for some time. If Douvan doesn't run I will actually cry as on quite big at 4s with Min at 11s...
Rumours abound that Faugheen was being laid off before Willies announcement. What an easy way to make a nice wad a cash if your 'in the know'.Id say the vet was straight onto his betfair account driving out of Willies stables!
To be fair I think there was very little of that went on. Same with Killutagh Vic, the price stayed pretty solid throughout. If he was trained at a certain Lambourn yard, you can be sure the official line would have been he's fine whilst the rancid drift on Betfair would tell the true story...
I take ante post betting and what prices people say they've got with a hefty pinch of salt. So what if you had a horse at 25/1 or 33/1 or whatever. It's almost certainly for small change, a tenner, maybe £20 at most and i don't give two shiny ****s! I had one ante post bet this year on Douvan at 4/1 for the Arkle and was capped at £90. That was the week of last years Festival after he'd blown the Supreme apart. If people are getting on much more than that they well done. You have more generous bookies than i do. I put another for a tenner on a day 1 accumulator and that's lost now Faugheen doesn't run. Apart from that, unless they're in an account that's been closed throughout the year, i haven't had a sausage on.
I see the markets lengthening and shortening all over the Cheltenham markets. I love a conspiracy, mark my words that riccii is behind this. Don't forget he used to be a trader.
Florida I think Rich R is pretty straight,he's already minted and I think genuinely loves the game.He is pretty honest regarding where his horses will be aimed at.I listened to an interview that Chapman done with him last October and he was very honest regarding upcoming races etc.I know he looks like your typical fat cat ****er banker but there are far worse owners out there robbing the general punter believe me, I got screwd today at Clonmel with one race in particular.
Can't resist the temptation to screw the mug punters, same on the stock markets and the money markets.
Straight when it comes to horsies Rudey that's what I meant,if he says a horse is being aimed for a particular race they are rarely re directed, prob a crook when it comes to finance but that's another story
