This was the best signing Keane ever made. We've just lost our highly respected fitness coach at the start of pre-season!

NOT good news. He's off home to Spain for family reasons so I wish him the best of luck but we're up the creek without a paddle now!

Can't see Jewell taking the fitness sessions!

Weighty I DO mind. This guy can't be replaced by anyone better, the best we can do is find someone just as or nearly as good. The timing couldn't be worse <cry>

Antonio was one of the best and will be sorely missed. Hope we get a good technical coach in his place. Too many players let their bodies instead of the ball do the work. If you are smart enough you don't need to spend the whole game running about if you use the ball well.

I know we are no Barcelona but its been well documented that every element of training involves a ball at their feet. Including stretches. Might explain why they are just a bit good

I'm not being funny - but if he made any difference to our results then I'm a monkey's uncle??!

I read somewhere (Opta stats?) that per player we ran more miles during games than any other team.

I would imagine half of it was related to Norris tear-arsing around.

In all seriousness though, I think it does make a big difference Uncle Hampy ;)

We needed to be running further than anyone else to try and get the bloody ball.

Timing is not great BM I agree but I assume that there are others who can step in and keep / get fitness levels up in the short term. Just a case of whether Gomez's methods were more productive or not. No doubt PJ will decide in due course whether he needs a replacement from outside.

Have to say that the title of this thread does sound like some kind of Spaghetti Western and there should be tumbleweed, whistling of an appropriate tune and a bloke with a cigar somewhere.

Paul Jewell is the boss. He's an experienced manager. It's not like we have a 37 year old with no managerial experience scratching around in the dark... and not to mention that the players have been training with him for two years so if they're professionals they will train as usual. You never know, we might get a new coach who can persuade Scotland to shed a few pounds!
