This weekend and in fact these next 3 games will define our season. I believe we will take all 9 points and ease the pressure at the club. I think if we do that we can relax a bit through that very hard Xmas periodand in fairness these next 3 games should be those that we do win. Brighton Saturday, Palace Tuesday and next weekend Brentford are important games for our season.

Lots of debate about the January transfer window, because”Experts” like Phil Hay have done a complete 360 and now say Leeds will buy. I think there is a debate to be had about the transition we are going through right now. Last season Championship team as great season in the Premier League and wins over millions of football fans and ends the season in 9th. This season sees massive injury problems and a stop start season due to International breaks. The team struggle to get continuity due to breaks and also the number of injuries to key players. The Spurs match was classic Leeds this season with a brilliant first half display but the bench had nobody there who could change the game.

So a small squad and massive injury list is hurting us at present. The issue then becomes what do we do? I am sure the plan was for us to survive this season and stay up, and next season see which of the U23s were good enough and then buy a couple of record breaking players to add to the group. But because we're now in no-mans land due to the injury list should we spend some cash now. The transition period should mean that earlier investments n top quality kids starts to pay dividends and saves the club massive amounts of cash in certain positions. We have seen the real potential of Cresswell, Summerville Drameh and Gelhardt. So for me I believe we would be silly to buy another winger as we now have 4 and we dont need any more CBs have we now have 5 and we dont need a striker due to Joffy and we dont need a LWB due to Drameh. But when you look at the shortage in midfield do you buy or do you try Lewis Bate. By next season we have a bunch of players who should be knocking on the door and we also have the likes of Cooper, Dallas, Ayling and Klich who need pushing by those behind. Spending big money now may damage the cohesion behind.
    • Gelhardt
    • Greenwood
    • Cresswell
    • Drameh
    • Summerville
    • Bate
    • Jenkins
    • Allen
    • McKinstry
    • Hjelde
    • Miller
    • McGurk
Its the gap between the first team and the U23s that we will gamble with. These are quality players who are going to push to break through. Obviously not all will do that but should we gamble and wait until we can evaluate at the end of this season, or do we spend in Januaryand potentially lose some of the above named players?

I had to laugh when I saw Heckingbottom named as the new Blunts manager again. Wonder why Jokanavitch couldn't do anything with that squad? Would have been better keeping Chris Wilder maybe

If, and its a big ask, but if we are able to get nine points from our next three games, we'll be on 20 points after 15 games.

Look where we were at the same point after 15 games last season...

Probably the biggest news this weekend has been Rangnick taking over at Scumchester Rovers. He has been called the German Bielsa and is one of the big thinkers in world football. He has been the man who taught Klopp, Tuchel and a few more top German coaches. They all play a high pressing game and join the elite coaching lists of world football. Poor bloke has his work cut out as as scum are not fit enough to play Bielsaball or any high press game like Leeds, Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Leicester, or any number of European clubs.

This chappie seems to be in our sights again, if you believe 'the clickbait cnuts'. :)

    https://www.teamtalk.com/leeds-unit...easy-cut-price-deal-international-star-nandez

"Leeds United tipped to seal easy cut-price deal for international star

Leeds United could be given a boost in January as an update on previous transfer target Nahitan Nandez may provide them with an easy deal.

Calciomercato (via Football Transfer Tavern) reports Cagliari are willing to move Nandez on in January. That development has prompted interest from Tottenham, who have also been tracking the midfielder.

Despite that, Leeds are still reported to be interested in the Uruguayan, as they were over the summer. Despite their previous interest, they were unable to complete a deal.

It is clear to see why the side is hoping to land the star. Indeed, Nandez’s 49 Uruguay caps at the age of 25 highlight his ability to perform at the top level.

The winger was a mainstay of the Cagliari side last season. Indeed, he featured in 32 league games, scoring twice and assisting three times.

Nandez has been utilised similarly this season, featuring in all but one of Cagliari’s league games this season. The winger has produced two assists within that period.

As such, it is strange that Cagliari would be willing to move Nandez on given his important role. However, Leeds would benefit massively from having a player of his calibre in their side.

Despite Nandez usually being deployed out wide, he has been utilised in a number of positions across the midfield, and the forward line.

As such, a player with that level of versatility would be a huge boost for Leeds.

Furthermore, a deal could come at a lower price than the £30.4million Cagliari apparently wants for his services. Indeed, a fee in that region would be close to Leeds’ record signing. As yet it is unclear whether the Whites will make a move, but the situation certainly points at a deal to be done".

Nahitan Nandez is a top top player and can play almost anywhere. He is a great International and spent the WC qualifying playing at RWB. He can do what Kalvin does, or play as a CM or AM. Ideal Bielsa player and is used to playing with some of the worlds best players for his country in Suarez, or Cavani and any number of great Uruguayans. Great move if its real but is it?

It's a bit of a catch22 situation, even if it is true. Why would a world player want to link up with a team just above the relegation zone and yet the team needs a player just like him to help us escape our current predicament.

Ordinarily I would have said that working under Bielsa would be all that was needed to lure him, but with the rising levels of rumour surrounding Bielsa allegedly leaving at the end of this season, it would be a hard sell now imo.

That to me is part of the issue. He is an attraction but how long will he be at Leeds. I can see why he wants the type of arrangement he currently has but if I was going to a club to be coached by him then I would want some sort of "comfort" that he was going to be around for more than a few months. I know there are no certainties if life and certainly not in football management but a 3 year arrangement with a rolling end date would give more confidence to potential recruits.

When Bielsa joined Leeds his first overseas target was Nahitan Nandez and Leeds couldnt afford the £17m Boca Juniors wanted. Betancourt is Nandez agent and heres a flavour of what went on:

Nahitan Nandez’s agent Pablo Bentancur has told Argentine outlet El Crack Deportivo that the Boca Juniors midfielder has told him he wants to play under Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa. CalcioMercato claimed that the tenacious midfielder was being linked with a move to both Leeds United and Newcastle United. Other outlets have claimed Italian sides AS Roma and Cagliari are interested.
It is believed that Boca are willing to sell Nandez for a fee of £17million, with the 23-year-old’s contract set to expire at the end of the 2019-20 season.

Nandez’s agent Bentancur was asked about Cagliari’s interest in the midfielder’s services. But Bentancur replied stating that Cagliari are a back-up option, and that he would rather play under Bielsa.……..

We all know what happened because Leeds didnt have the cash and he went to Caliagri. Also remember that he was willing to come to Leeds whilst in the Championship

Heres Betancur talking earlier this summer:

What has the agent of Nandez said, about interest from Leeds?
Speaking to LUFC Fan Zone, as posted on their Instagram. Bentancur says: “Our wish is to play in England, if it is with Leeds that would be much better. Cagliari president Giulili and Radrizzani are close friend and have spoken. It is the good will of the presidents to close the operation. “Giulini promised Nahitan that if he helped the club avoid relegation, he would help him move to a bigger club. Two big clubs from Italy are in talks – but England is our first choice. Nahitan wanted to join Leeds while at Boca. His style is best suited to English football.”

LUFCFANZONE also tweeted something very similar from Betancur in the summer, but got no isea how things really stand at the moment

At least this week we have 4 first team players on the bench for a change plus Cresswell and Joffy who can also be classed as first teamers now. Much healthier outlook this week

Harsh on Struijk to be dropped for the ineffective and so far disappointing Firpo
