I really thought they would get Strootman, but apparently this target is receding too.

It is getting embarrassing the amount of players turning down United: Vidal, Hummels, Reus, Mueller, Benatia, Kroos (http://www.worldsoccer.com/news/players-turned-down-manchester-united) despite offering the biggest wages in sport.

I thought the Nos to United would end when Moyes left (Fabregas, Bale, Thiago, Coentrao, Baines, Herrera, De Rossi, Khedira, Ronaldo, Ozil, etc) but Van Gaal seems to have the same problem. Di Maria begged to stay at Real but was forced out, ditto an injured Falcao at Monaco.

City seems to have no problem getting star players on a smaller budget.... has Old Trafford lost its attraction?

We are lucky to support a well-run club that delivers its transfer targets. KTBFFH

To be fair they did manage to bag 4th choice Blind and 3rd choice Herrera ;)

Were it not for lucky late deals for Di Maria and Falcao, the board would be coming under some serious scrutiny.

And fourth choice Moyes after Mou Pep Klopp turned them down. They did get Herrera, one year on, after Real turned their attention to Kroos

Oh well hopefully we keep picking up the unwanted players. No room for all the greatest players in the world to get their dream move to Chelsea, just one of those things in life

Hmm... 'well run' is debatable given that the sustainability of your current model seems a bit suspect. You bought a truck load of quite expensive young stars before the FFP came in so that could survive the early years of FFP by selling a few off year by year giving you net funds to buy. But what will you do when your stock of young stars runs dry and you have no more to sell? Is a small stadium like Stamford Bridge really going to bankroll the purchases you'll likely need to make in future (and pay them)?

Well the club is looking to expand the Bridge, hopefully that happens sooner rather than later. We also still have plenty of young talent out on loan plus the increased money from TV and sponsorship deals. Not going to be a problem in the near future I suspect.

Pointless trying to compare Man U and Chelsea. We have a great structure and squad in place but a stadium past its use by date, Man U have a great stadium but a squad that needs more building. We will probably both get to where we need to be in the end, but just now we seem to be in a better place.
