I realise this thread will not effect many Sunderland fans, if in fact any at all. But in todays economic climate what UEFA announced on Thursday in relation to ticket pricing for this seasons showpiece final champions league game at Wembley Stadium is nothing short of obscene. Plattini and his cohorts have really excelled themselves this time. The pricing of seats for this game is absolutely disgusting, in some cases having doubled over the last two years. And the cherry on top of the cake, a whopping 26 pound booking fee. Just where do these self seeking glory boys get their ideas from. Wembley has a capacity of 90000, with each participating team being allocated 25000 and 11000 going on general sale, 29000 seats go to the suits and fat cats who,in all honesty probably have no interest in the game. I for one hope that the 11000 seats which go on general sale, remain unsold, but we all know that supporters of the two participants will snap them up. Football is a business and has been for a number of years now, but the powers that be would do well to realise that the camels back is not indestructible, and empty seats are not good for the game. In essence its about time UEFA and FIFA came into the real world and gave the paying fan value for money instead of feathering their own nests. Rant over, have a nice day fellow posters.
As long as demand is there, those who run football will continue to charge whatever they wish. They honestly don't care if Wembley is filled with tourists who wouldn't know a football song if it smacked them in the face.
Ballin Boy, I agree with you entirely, sadly I don't really see the demand diminishing for some years to come.
