I am going to write another piece on our most strongly linked potential transfer target, as quite frankly, despite receiving a hard time from Wenger at the moment, this guy is on fire. Theo Walcott is being largely left on the bench atm due to his contract issues with Arsenal. He as made 14 appearances this season, but started only 4 games. But despite this lack of game time, Walcott has already scored 8 goals this season. Just two less than Suarez in all competitions. He also has 4 assists. Meaning his has contributed to 12 goals in total for Arsenal this season. Apart from Suarez, those stats are miles better than what our attacker players are producing at the moment. Not many players in the PL produce stats like that. And remember, Walcott is just only 23 years of age. Despite it being very public that he is not happy at Arsenal, Walcott has stayed very professional, kept his dignity, worked hard and still played great for his team. That is what I call a top professional with great dedication to his football. We could do with a fighter like that in our squad. We could do with a goal scoring like that in our team. Walcott is versatile, hard working, dedicated, fast, a good finishing, team player, has heaps of experience for his age, is familiar with a style of play similar to ours and has skills our team clearly lacks.
A lot of Liverpool fans are not keen on this transfer. I have stated that I didn't want this one to happen. His detractors would say that he is all speed and no brain and in the past I would have agreed, I have watched many games when he simply goes missing. However he seems to be very much on form and has showed an improvement in his decision making as well as getting goals he is getting assists he is also working very hard when he plays. Wenger has been praising him today but it may well be too little too late. A front line of Sterling Suarez Walcott has pace, trickery and goals in it and Walcott is of the right age. (They can also all play in all 3 positions) I have changed my mind and would welcome Walcott.
He's never a winger, for me he'd be at his best in playing up front alongside a target man & playing on the shoulder of opposing CB's. His crossing is pants & his decision making out wide is often poor, but give him a chance centrally & he'll usually bury it. I don't think he'd suit the way Rodgers wants to play, he'd be in the same boat at Anfield as he has been at Arsenal imo
Yep, left on bench because he's not signed a new contract and nothing to do with them having better options available
He is only 21... He is being judged like some one much older. - Where I think Walcott would be great in Rodgers system is as a wide forward, with Suarez as the F9. Walcott will come in narrow and run in ahead of Suarez, feed off his creativity and get in behind the opposition defense. Suarez will play in the middle. But Walcott will often be the furthest player forward, making a lot of runs like a striker. Walcott and Suarez could be great together.
He doesnt have better options available. Giroud doesnt look settled, Ramsey is not really a winger and doesnt seem the best option for that role. OC is still a teenager. I think Arsenal would be best like this. --------------------Back-Four---------------------- ----------------------Arteta------------------------ --------------Ramsey--------Wilshere--------------- ----------------------Cazorla----------------------- ----------Walcott----------------Podolski----------- Giroud has played more, but scored half the amount of goals.
Meaning? Have a word with MITO regarding accuracy of the info. He's been impressed and as you'll know, he aint easily impressed.
I've watched him play a lot for Swansea and he is a talented player, it just hasn't gone very well so far but I'm happy that we have him and hope that he starts to show what he is capable of.
I think Borini is being judged based on his price tag, which might be unfair on the lad, but it's how it generally works. As for Walcott, Rodgers sets his side up in the same way Wenger does, so Walcott would be playing the same role as he does at the Emirates. I'm not sure where his best bet would be tbh, as he's not strong enough to play CF on his own & virtually no-one plays 2 strikers anymore.
