To be fair United have never been able to attract really big signings, save for bullying smaller clubs in this country. That's not to say some of their mid range signings like Van Nistelrooy and Ronaldo didn't work out!!

It also says to me that they are not quite the worlds biggest club that some of their fans and the British press seem to think they are. Top world class players want to play for teams like Milan, Real and Barca...that never seems to be the case with United. Could be location to a point I guess.

 

Damb good job we can`t attract the top players if you ask me, 5 out of the last 7 titles is already boring and monotnous for the reast of the league, if we could attract top talent there would be no point in anyone else playing except for champions league places.

With the news out now that bale snubbed Moyes too, I think there is a good chance that sir Alex could have tempted him.

Fergie would have at least tapped up bale earlier rather than leaving it to the last minute like LM Moyes.

Equally if United had chosen Moyes earlier rather than approaching klopp, pep, Jose etc and leaving it to the LM, LMM would have had more time to build a squad
