We shall see. Always easier to get a player to go up a division rather than down. I think we need 2 new first players in the spine of the team with proven Champ (maybe even Prem) experience this season to guide and mentor our very young squad, if that costs a lot (either fees or wages) then it costs a lot, that's the price of success, don't pay it and were back in L1!!
That's far too much, and is probably a reflection on the fact that we've told clubs that we've got money to spare. I think we're a bit screwed on the transfer front, so I'd quite like to see us put in some bids for free agents, and to use that transfer kitty on wages to land some experience for this side. If we could land Carlton Cole, Joey Barton, Mahamadou Diarra, Alberto Rodriguez, and/or Joseph Yobo we'd have a solid signing in every position we need one. Those five signings on one year deals would probably be good enough to keep us in the Championship.
If we landed 1 of them i'd be gently surprised. For instance, Barton has 4 clubs after him. The French club he played for, a Premiership side (Newcastle I believe) and 2 Championship clubs
All looking a bit panicky at the moment. Maybe prem loan signings are a better option at the moment rather than spend loads on permanent signings that are untried at this level.
Swindon bid 300k the other day and it got rejected, rumour was they could get him for 1m. So this is utter bullshit.
I don't get this it's a big jump bollocks all the time Andre Grey until last year played for Luton Dwight Gayle who we was prepared to spend 8 million on played one season for Petersborough and before that non league. Britt Assombalonga another Petersborough was another who went for **** loads when he wasn't proven. Why can't we at least take a punt on someone and hopefully they become a bargain, surely a forward who scores for fun can also score if they get the service. Not saying Bradshaws the answer it's just we rubbish players before they've had a chance. But a £million on him plus a strong midfielder and defender could see a great difference and stop Red Robin writing threads like the worlds collapsing already threads.
played…...3 for………..3 against…..9 tends to suggest its not our forward line that needs developing - also as one of the teams was from Div 2, it may be that something was radically wrong with our pre-season.
Whatever we do in the short term must be used as the building blocks for a sustained challenge to stay and hopefully improve our right to be in the Championship. That will require tactical evaluation and which players we need to play at our optimum level in all matches and the ongoing assessment must include key decisions as and when they are needed. If you ignore it don't expect it to go away.
