Put BBC news on last night to see the story but a 10 min show due to the tennis didn’t even mention it, so I rushed into the newsagents this morning to buy the Journal ( a newspaper that boasts it represents the WHOLE NE) confident there would be a good coverage of Connor Wickham's move the SAFC.

Surprise, surprise though, the whole back page taken up with Dale Blenkestein's runs for Durham. The whole friggin page.

Connors signing warranted a brief summary at the foot of the page and an equally small article, 4 pages in from the back page, with a tiny photograph.

Can you imagine the coverage had the barcodes signed him? There would have been a 24 page souvenir pull out supplement and free china cups with his picture on it.

One of the hottest young English players, a record fee paid to a championship club for a first time EPL player, moves to the NE and there’s **** all in the Journal.

That’s the last time I will be buying this biased ****ing rag and I urge my fellow supporters to do likewise. If we stop filling their pockets as SAFC fans, they will either start to cover our club properly or they can basically lose a fortune.

Come on lads 'bouycott' the Journal form now on. :emoticon-0116-evilg

I have had call to contact the BBC over their Newcastle Bias whether sport or otherwise. (As I'm paying the biased ****ers wages!)
The only time I have read the Journal was on finding a copy left on a seat at the hospital, years ago.
Reading their totally biased sport coverage that day meant I have never seen a copy since.

You might BBC Radio 'Newcastle' sport for the North East, why does it not change its name to radio North East then.

I was offered The (N******le) Journal delivered for FREE as a trial for six weeks some time ago and declined.

I told the caller it was rubbish even for free and delivered to my door. When she asked why she got both barrels, totally biased. I see it hasn't changed much. I would urge anyone else to 'bouycott' it as well as BBC N******le.

Some years ago it WAS called "The N******le Journal" but they changed the title to kid on it covered the north-east. no chance! It's as biased as ever apparently>

While I agree that the total coverage should have been bigger. We have to admit in football when the two top sides in the premire league have played and the local side has just won and one player has just broken the club record for goals scored that will be the big back page story of the day.

Lets face it that is what Durham have just done and Benks is now the leading run maker in the history of the club. As it is the summer and the cricket season we can not complain that Durham got top billing. However the coverage of the Wickham signing should have had a full page on the inside as well as the story at the foot ofthe back page.

I've never lived in areas that sell the Journal or the Chronical but I do know that the BBC news coverage of our club is awfully biaised. How could they justify covering Mags news first when they were down in the Championship (and we were in the Premiership) the season before last? total twoddle. I'm glad that I live in a region that doesn't have Look North as the local news.

This is something which I have been harping on about for years..The name is a total disgrace and alienates huge swathes of the North East public who are paying just as much tax towards this station as those from NE1.

I must add that I'm a huge Durham CCC fan so I'm glad they got top billing for once - they are the only North East Sport success story of the recent era (winning major honours in 2007, 2008 and 2009) and are currently top of the championship...they deserve all the coverage they can get.
