Blue Scum have won the Champions League with the most negative type of football possible. The last three games they have won have been so anti football it's unreal. I'm totally aware it's up to the likes of Barca and Bayern to break them down but that was dreadful tonight. Long live the likes of Barca, Real and Bayern true footballing sides.
Don't think this is entirely fair - defending is just as important as attacking, ball retention and width, so why can't teams play defensively? Sure it's not the best football in the world to watch, but they just won the champions league - Barca, Real, Bayern didn't.
there's also the gamesmanship bollocks from the likes of Drogba against Barca, which in my many years of football was the most embarrassing performance I've seen on a football pitch (oh, maybe the Ref against us in 1975 beats it!!)
Now they've won the Champions League does that mean its mission accomplished for the Russian and he's going to **** of and look for a new toy? I really hope so!
Drogba going around diving is not a tactic I'm particularly fond of, no. But I don't think it's fair to say they didn't deserve it based on the fact they defended. Chelsea aren't as technically proficient as the likes of Barca and Bayern - how do you propose they play? Try and play keep ball and lose 4-0? If Leeds had just won the Champions League final playing like that nobody on here would complain.
I don't think LUFC would play like that. Every time we have played in Europe we have always played on the offensive.
Absolutely delighted that Bayern Munich lost, they do not deserve a 5th Star on their shirt, in fact after 1975 they don't deserve the second one either. I would rather money ruin the game with expensive players, but when you start buying referees as well you have gone too far...
What we have or haven't done, or what we may or may not do is completely irrelevant. IF we had just won in the exact same manner as Chelsea did today, not one Leeds fan would have anything to complain about it. Fact is, Chelsea won within the laws of the game today. They are allowed to defend y'know
Each to their own. I for one thought it was a dreadfull game and that is mainly down to BlueScums tactics. Not the greatest advert for the game.
Whilst it is true that Chelsea won the C.L. is a manner that nobody who enjoys flowing football would want to witness ever again, the facts are that they did win it and if anything played to their own strengths, which is part of the game. Chelsea have shown to be hard to beat with Di Matteo, perhaps other managers could learn from this.
It truly was an awful game, but there's been a lot worse. Wasn't it the Red Star Belgrade final that was the worst ever?
I remember being bored senseless when Villa won their European Cup and none of the Notts Forest wins were anything to write home about, even worse was the dire Liverpool v Bruges game at Wembley, fecking awful from start to finish.
Good call Kiwi. If you're in the CL final, you do what is required to win. Depressing for Spurs fans, but congrats to Chelski. Lets hope the Russian now appoints Di Matteo permanently.
Bottom line is you need some luck and Chelsea had oodles of it over the semi final and final. It annoys me when you here newsreaders saying that the manager got the best out of the players, something previous big names couldn't, that is bollocks, this Chelsea team are playing the worst football that they have played in the CL but lady luck shone down on them and if they keep Di Matteo in charge for next season it will be there downfall and he won't last the season out.
Why do so many left footed players miss penalties in big games? Out of the misses last night, 3 of the 4 misses were from left footed players, with only Cole scoring.
