Maybe it's because he can also play in defence which might give us some cover.

Harris has been out of contention for the past few weeks with an ankle injury - maybe another month before he gets back to fitness.

Can't see this youngster being anything more than a punt for the future. Even if we took him on, I doubt he'd get anywhere near the first team squad.

If he's being considered for his defensive capabilities this year as an answer to our lack of cover, I'd be very worried.

Yeah no problem looking at young players for the future.

Joe Ralls cant get a look in at the moment and I think hes going to be a top player.

I don't have a problem with building for the future lads but players like this still add to the payroll of a Championship club.

MM is trying to build a conveyor belt of young talent for the next 3-5 years. Happy for him to bring in young talent to supplement what is coming through from the local youth.

I'm with Hilts, in a year or two I'm expecting big things from Ralls. He can't be far away now.

agree, most clubs have loads of youth players as they are hoping that if even 1 out of say 20 turns out to be good then its worth the money nurturing them.....<ok> its completely different to having hoards of old players who are there just for the money as they have already made it........<ok>

How can anybody oppose bringing in Europe's top youth talent? The kid won't break the wage structure (he's taken his time in finding a british club) and i would suggest that Malky will not bring him in unless there is solid potential. All i can see here is an investment opportunity. Surely that is better than bringing in a 30 year old squad filler that will be on double the wage..

We'll see how you feel should we lose Taylor, McNugget or both to injury in the run in and no quality alternative is sought with availabe resources at this time.

The transfer window has closed and only loans are available. MM has said he won't take a loan player and sit them in the stands so he's only going to take a loanee in an emergency.

This lad is out of contract and was before the window closed so is a free agent and can be signed outside the transfer window. Think this signing is OK and won't impact on other potential deals as are required.

It seems Kadeem Harris won't feature this season - if ever. He was a gamble from a League Two club - perhaps he is not of the required standard, maybe he will develop, but we can all hope that every now and then we make a gamble that pays off. If we make too many gambles that don't pay off (Harris? Velikonja?) then it could be an expensive hobby.

How does anyone know Harris won't figure this or any other season? Way too soon to write velikonja off too IMO.

19 year old Harris would have fitted into last season's squad as MM would have felt the need to push him on as he was the only genuine wide man we had. With Bellamy, Noone, KimBo and Smith, there is no need to rush him in. I'm sure we'll see him get some game time later in the season. Come January with a couple injuries, 3 games a week and Bellamy not able to play in all of them he'll make the bench as a minimum.

As for Eti, he's in the same boat as KimBo. If they'd been the only signings we'd made they'd be playing. Both are young and will take time to adapt to the Brittish game. Again, MM doesn't need to rush them into the team.

I still think it's a shame we didn't get past the first round of the cup as it would have been an ideal opportunity to play them. They arrived too late for the first match.

It's a long old season and we don't want to be in the position of players on 50+ appearances this year. With these guys in the squad we don't have to be for the front 6. The back 5 is a different matter!!!!

On the subject of Harris, you can hardly figure for selection if you're injured. He's been receiving treatment on an ankle injury for the past three weeks and won't be available for another month yet.

That's not to say he won't just be a periferral figure anyway this season. The options at the club now (other than in defence) make it very difficult for Malky to justify selecting him out wide in preference to the likes of Noone, Bellers, Smith and Kimbo.

I the middle of the park, he's got no chance of a game with Whitts, Gunnar, Mutch, Cowie, Kiss and Ralls covering all the options.

How about then a chance as a quick opportunist playing in the hole behind Helguson? Sorry Kadeem, even with Maynard out for the season, Malky will think Mason and Veronica as first options.

This squad is frightening. The more I look at it, the more I'm convinced this is our year.

When Harris is fit the best thing for him is to go out on loan to a team in division one so he can get some competitive games. We all agree there is no place for him in our match day eighteen.
Some competetive games at a lower level and, who knows, he may develop into the player Malky hopes he bought.

He might be the player MM hoped he bought now.

MM didn't know he was going to get £10M when he bought him as per the comments above. Without that £10M he could be first choice now and doing a good job. I still think he'll get some game time before the season is out.

As Sparkey says, frightening the depth we have in midfield. Keep pinching myself. It's great that we don't have to rush these players into the side. When KimBo, Harris and Eti are ready, they'll have more of an impact than being thrown in at the deep end. It might be frustrating for them at the moment but they'll be better for it in the long run. Better to let them off the leash when their chomping at the bit (mixing metaphores a bit there) than when they expect to get into the side.

Imagine what the position would have been last season if we'd lost players like Mutch and Smith. It would have been a blow. This season we're debating on who should replace them. KimBo or Mason on the wing (let alone Harris - if he was fit - Conway or Cowie), Gunnar, Kiss or Ralls in the middle.

I wonder if Harris could play wing back? Not sure what the deffensive qualities would be, but him and KimBo bombing down the right flank would be a handfull.

I wouldn't be worried about a new midfielder but if rumour strikes of a new striker then we can get worried
