The Horse Whisperer - Spring, the time of allergies

With Spring coming into bloom, allergies become ever more acute. Even the Horse Whisperer has been affected, albeit with a very special type, which creates a bad reaction to rubbish. The environment in which the Horse Whisperer usually operates, Formula 1, is a particularly fertile area for this type of illness, which can manifest itself in a whole host of ways, as we have seen over the past few weeks.

One of the most prevalent symptoms focuses on driver salaries and team budgets, an allergy especially localised in England. The Horse WhisperÃ¢â¬â¢s nose got particularly ticklish when reading figures relating to how much the so-called experts reckoned that Felipe and Fernando took off Ferrari: for example, the Spaniard is reckoned to touch 26 million Euros which is obviously pure fantasy. The Whisperer also had a coughing fit when having to wade through considered opinion as to which team has the biggest budget: the visionaries from across the Channel, always ready to point the finger at Maranello as the biggest spenders, would do well to look closer to home.

The final form this allergy can take - and it almost floored the poor old Whisperer Ã¢â¬â can now be considered a chronic one, as it latches on to which driver might replace Massa at the wheel of the Red car. It dates back to 2006, when Felipe was first a Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro driver that this virulent allergy has led people to speculate whether this driver or that one will replace the Brazilian. In a mutation of the allergy for 2011, no less than three names are put forward for candidature: Mark Webber, a constant name on the list since the start of the year, then Jenson Button, joining the ranks in China and now, we also have Nico Rosberg. Needless to say, it is just rubbish, the sort that gives you really bad allergies.

I have never seen a huge company using such a wacko-style publicity tool. Maybe Ferraris Horse Wisperer is the father of Alfacar1936/Alessandro Ciambella on bbcs 606? ;-)

If there's one thing that gets the Horse Whisperer whipped into a lather it's lies. One can have a difference of opinion, one can have heated debate, one can smile at seeing spies where there are none, or laugh at those who try and get in touch with the spirit world every other day, but when lies are being bandied about then the Whisperer cannot let it go.

He tried, giving himself twenty four hours to reflect on the matter, but in the end he could not keep it in. Someone in Spain, maybe suffering a touch of heat stroke, made up some piece of science-fiction concerning an assumed discussion in the pits reckoned to have taken place on Saturday afternoon after qualifying, between the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro Team Principal, Stefano Domenicali and the President of the Santander Bank, Emilio Botin. Unfortunately for the journalist in question, who one should add was not actually present at the Catalunya Circuit, nor is he a frequent visitor to the race tracks, not only is the story itself false, but so too is the context in which it was told.

If there is one relationship which is going full steam ahead it's the one between the Prancing Horse and Santander, one of the Scuderia's main partners and you can go and get the same reply from representatives of the Bank. Those who hope to stir up trouble hither and thither should therefore calm down and maybe consider a bit of fact checking with those concerned before putting pen to paper.

If the Horse Whisperer's opinion is a reflection of what actually happened (or didn't) after qualifying in Spain then it shows that Byron Youngs are making up rubbish and printing it without censure pretty much everywhere. AS appears to be less than scrupulous in its presentation of a truth. I wouldn't know how much of a hack Livio Oricchio is.
