The Premier League have signed a new deal to allow Suning to stream video on their PPTV platform in China. The new deal is for $600m over the next three years. The deal it replaces was at $18m a year.
Wheres the article, just had a flick around and not seen it. If this has been in the pipeline it makes sense why all the Chinese are buying English clubs and also why the Allams have been upping the price.
The Allams wont be going anywhere. We should get used to the Hull Tigers/ Tigers v. Membership nonesense etc. I'm very close to not going to home games just follow City away.
Why is this such a popular view? Yes there's a lot of money in football. Just like there is in American Football in the US. Or the film industry. Or video games. Popular entertainment makes a lot of money and the stars get paid very well for it. There's huge problems with the distribution of wealth in football, and the motivations of some of the people making decisions, but the fact that there's a lot of money sloshing around really isn't the problem people say it is. There should be no reason we can't have fan-owned clubs, standing, a competitive and entertaining domestic game and a successful national team while players are paid well and TV deals are huge.
