Just wanted to gauge people's opinions on this one. I think most are agreed that priority positions are GK, ST, ST (if Simpson goes) and someone for defensive cover CB/RB. That's about 4 signings with one or two possibly going the other way. So, with a limited amount of money available (I'm not saying we've got nothing to spend but there's obviously going to be a limit) how would you prefer to use it? Would you rather: a) Fill all of the gaps and have depth, though potentially lack the quality that spending money often brings. b) Spend big(ish) on a couple of quality signings but still be a bit thin on the ground Bear in mind the quality we've so far brought in for free.
I think we need to bring numbers in, not just a couple of expensive signings. We are short of numbers at the moment, and it's starting to hurt us.
when everyone is fit the numbers are ok. IMO, whatever money NB has to spend must be used to replace Waghorn and Simpson. If then NB feels that we need a GK then fair enough. With Cooper, McShane, East and Bradley we have enough CB cover. The midfield area is also well supplied. NB needs to tweak not re-build.
If both Brady and Waghorn return to their parent clubs, then they both need to be replaced. Waghorn definitely will, so we'll get at least one new striker, we could also do with a keeper, but I don't expect to see a great deal more movement than that.
OK Tickler - but face it, we're almost always going to have someone(s) out, injured. Every club is. It's the nature of the game. We need a striker (after Waggy and Simbo), a keeper (we have to have one!), a CB/LB cover.
Could do with a midfielder too. We are missing numbers in this position so we could do with someone like Ashbee, a good leader.
As tickler says, we have plenty of players. Any new signings will have to wear number 34 and upwards which says something in itself. As Una Bomber says, we will always have some injuries but the combinations we have at the moment in the same positions combined with suspensions is hurting us. I'm not convinced we can cater for the amount of injuries we've had lately. The only teams that can do that are the likes of Leicester and West Ham.
