Tottenham want Gyan as part of Sunderlandâs deal for Crouch Posted On Friday, 10th June 2011 Welcome to Ghanasoccernet.com, Ghana's most authoritative football news website. Asamoah Gyan has been a top striker for Sunderland English side Tottenham will demand Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan as part of any deal when Sunderland bid for Peter Crouch, who is their No1 attacking target this summer. Steve Bruce, the Sunderland manager, has money to spend after the £20m sale of the midfielder Jordan Henderson to Liverpool and he urgently needs reinforcements up front, where Gyan is his only fit, established striker. Bruce, who has Fraizer Campbell as a long-term cruciate knee ligament casualty, wants to sign three new strikers. He would not want to lose Gyan, whom he signed from Rennes for £13m last summer, but the Ghanaian would relish the prospect of a move to Tottenham, as he prefers the idea of playing in London. Gyan is disappointed that his Ghanaian team-mates, Sulley Muntari and John Mensah, have left Sunderland to return to their parent clubs, Internazionale and Lyon respectively, following the end of their loan spells. Bruce was unhappy that Crouch chose Tottenham over Sunderland in the summer of 2009 when he left Portsmouth â Sunderland had offered £12m to Tottenhamâs £9m â but he is over the snub and he is ready to try again for the England international. Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham manager, considers Crouch as the striker that he would most like to keep from his existing quartet. He is ready to sell Robbie Keane, who has fallen out of favour, while he would also listen to offers for Roman Pavlyuchenko and Jermain Defoe. Pavlyuchenkoâs £70,000-a-week wage has proved a stumbling block to moving him on in the past.
Just heard this on the radio mate we are looking at either Crouch or Defoe but Arry wants Gyan in any deal we do with them. For me Gyan is a much better prospect than the now aged Crouch and I believe about the same as Defoe, so why does Arry want rid of Defoe and wants Gyan? Could be Defoes attitude or his bit of a hit and miss season by his standards. For me forget them both and keep Gyan, if need be have a look at another Ghana player I'm sure they have one or two we could use (where's Poolie when you need him). This would also keep Gyan happy for this season at least.
I would have thought that we were after Crouch to complement Gyan, not replace him. I honestly can't see why we would want to sell GYan, we don't need the cash, we have that now, so why sell????
I dont like to say this, but I reckon it wont be long before Gyan is away also. Hope im wrong mind you.
The thought of Gyan leaving fills me with dread and fear, he's one of only a couple of real quality players we still have. I'd much rather buy him a Ghanaian friend- or Welbeck, they got on- and try and keep him at the club. I'd rather have Gyan (25) than Crouch (30) AND Defoe (28). Spurs can **** right off.
I can see your fuustrations to be honest because we been the same with the whole Modric to United issue but Bruce does like a few of the spurs players E.g Palacios, Hutton and Crouch. These are all fringe players that spurs can afford to let go if they wanted to and i believe spurs may use these type players in a deal involving Gyan.
You think Modric will go Don? was down Manchester at the weekend and the Utd fans all seem to think it's a done deal. I get what Bruce sees in Hutton (who we've been linked with all season) and Palacios (who he had at Wigan I think). As for Crouch he turned us down once for yourselves so can't see him coming this far North this time around, at 31 time is not on his side.
This is a come and get me call from a player if ever I've seen one - Gyan won't be here for much longer which is gutting. Seems like Bruce has a real task on his hands now. If Gyan goes we will only have Campbell which is not a good situation because how will we be able to attract players when we have none at the club. Tough times ahead me thinks.
Wishful thinking from your mates and Not sure what BS your mates get their info from because Modric is going nowhere. United would have to pay something stupid like 40mil plus to get anywhere near a deal for Modric and it won't happen. plus Modric himself has stated he will be a spurs plModric will be a spurs player next season but if we don't make top 4 next season then i believe he will possibly go.
More acquaintances than mates they could be talking crap but they seemed pretty adamant. Money talks though mate and Man Utd are well within paying that sort of money for a good player, did they not buy Berbatov off you lot for 30 odd mil? No disrespect here but if it's a toss up between Spurs or Man Utd who do you think he'll choose if the money is paid? One thing on your side though is you don't appear to need to sell which is more than can be said for us at present.
If I was totally honest, in my opinion, I would have to say that Gyan has not as yet lived up to the expectations that I had of him. His best game by far that I saw him play last season was when he played for Ghana and not us. Having said that, I still have high hopes that he will come good, and if he really does want to play in London, which wouldn't at all surprise me given what I have seen regarding his nature, I would want top money paid in return because we are already desperately short on forwards and need some players who know were the net is.
No one is saying United are not a bigger club than spurs but were not the same club as we were years ago when we sold berbatov. Chances are we will be challenging that top 4 again next season and we have bigger ambitions for our club. Money talks yes but as stated already by our chairman and Manager...... "our key players are not for sale".... that's good enough for me mate rather than a couple of your "acquaintances" who are just hoping!!!
If Gyan leaves we really are in big trouble. I can't see it though, I have supported Bruce through thick and thin but if he sold a 24 yo with great prospects would plays football for a 31 yo who likes the long ball game then I will be joining the Bruce out brigade. I could maybe forgive him if we got Crouch, Defoe and Welbeck back and had to sacrifice Gyan but that would be the only way I would still be moderately happy. We have plenty of money their really is not point in us selling anyone else, we need to buy, if Spurs don't want to play ball fine we can look elsewhere.
Fair enough, where will Arry improve Spurs this season as you were close last season to CL place and to be honest you could take over from Arsenal in that top 4 slot unless they improve drastically.
Well according to sky gyan says he would love to go to spurs but only if sunderland let him!!!!!! To me that stinks of a player wanting away and surely if its true the Arry said he wants Gyan then we should report them for tapping him up. Its becoming a joke that players come here have a half decent season and then they are away!!!! We are seriously going to struggle this season if we sell all our young talent and replace them with old SH**E. Im slowly becoming disillusioned with football everyyear and feel it may be time to start fishing or golf summit that doesnt involve overpaid mercanaries!!!!
When I first read this article, before I had even pored my first beer, after nightshift dont you know? I was thinking bollocks, he aint going nowhere, but looking at the shape of our possible team[ and Gyan is on the inside dont forget ] I recon there could well be a whole lot more to this story, and recon the article is far far away from being fiction by the press. If Gyan has ambition, he will look at our club, realise he can get more dosh, and possibly gain honours, which he wont do with us, he will go elsewhere.
