This was not the stroll the score suggests. For long periods Villa were tough in defence and their stubbornness made it hard for our attack. An early goal only stiffened the Villa defenders and we worked hard all game to add to the score. That said this team did create several chances, where last years would have struggled. There's no doubt we have come on heaps in that regard. Even with Cesc having a slightly quieter match, there were still a couple of great passes from him. Ivan again was dangerous, Hazard grew into the match and was dynamite in the area, Costa got his goal ,missed a second by a fraction and headed a good chance straight at the goalie. All the defenders played very well. Oscar was in many moves and pleased to say Willian was terrific. He scored one, made one and was everywhere. A big improvement by the kid. Not a classic game, but a great example of how to win tough matches. Well done to all.

Yep, agree with that C.P. That probably would have ended 0-0 last year. Good performance from Brana again. He always was solid for us but this season he has stepped up another gear. Costa, what can you say. 8 goals nursing an injury ! Nice to see Oscar back on the scoresheet. The clean sheet was welcome too. Roll on the gunners next Sunday. Half of last season's goals against them at the Bridge will do.....i'm not greedy !
