We are mooted in todays papers to be trying to loan Neil Danns is this another gift from Pearson I hope so I know that Simon went after him but he chose Leicester for monetary reasons. Do you think he will be worthwhile?

Scott Dann is a defender for Blackburn.

Neil Danns is a midfielder for Leicester and it would be ludicrous for him to be loaned out to you.

He's only out of the side at the moment due to the great form of King and Drinkwater. There is no way he should be loaned out.

EDIT; plus he'll be on a tidy wage, will Bates put his hands in his pockets for him? I doubt it.

Loans like this and Jennas, well, I just can't see them happening - I hope they do but when NW says he has no money for loans I think it means don't expect too much in the way of quality.

Agreed. Think we'll have to make do with what we've got to be honest - so it looks like Thompson will probably start on saturday.

Don't get me wrong, I think Thompson is a great little player! In all honesty I'd prefer to give him experience than loan an injury prone 30 year old from the premier league that hasn't played in a year. However that said, I'd take Danns and most probably Tonge. Definitely Watson. But we won't get any of them so it's immaterial! <laugh>

The thing that pisses me off is that Bates has this reputation with some dickheads, as being a fantastic businessman. In the words of dom matteo:

"I made this point a few weeks ago but I’ll make it again – why, when you’ve got a guy with seven promotions on his record and a good first month of the season behind him, would you think twice about backing him to the tune of a couple more signings? Is it not common sense? We’re told that the aim of the club is to get promotion and I really think that with a bit of strengthening this side have a chance – a chance Leeds should be doing everything to take".

Exactly Dom. Why not invest in promotion when promotion adds millions to value of the business, and guarantees millions in extra gate reciepts, revenue, tv money, worldwide exposure, huge increase in marketing etc, etc, etc. Why spend millions on a white elephant development in the east stand which never gets used, and do it on a place you don't even own. fooking nugget

Because Leicester have proved that throwing money at it is not guaranteed and why should Bates take that gamble?

    1) Bates does not support Leeds - We are a means for his lifestyle
    2) Bates does not love or even like Leeds fans, he has made that clear
    3) He is an old man, let us assume he milks £7m - £8m a season from us, is that not enough to live on, what would he do with the extra income apart from leave it to his family and probably a lot of extra inheritance tax.

Bates is enjoying an easy lifestyle in the sunshine at our expense, he doesn't need to gamble that for an extra £50m - If we did gain promotion how much would he need to invest to keep us in the PL. He is an old giffer enjoying what he has and who is probably getting his sexual kicks from watching Leeds fans suffer and complain.

I love the bit about inheritance. When do you think was the last time he worried about tax?

Agreed it might be that there would be none <ok>

I am just trying to say that when does someone of that age say "well I earn enough as it is, life is easy, I don't want any extra stress or hassle, I am happy to plod along like it is without taking a gamble"...

We all know that the money is coming into the club, we know we don't have the largest wage bill so the money is going somewhere and we know that somewhere is into Bates bank account/lifestyle.

If he hates Leeds fans and has no love for the club and he see's us entirely as a 'business investment' to fund his lifestyle why should he worry and take a gamble that throwing a bit more at it might get a chunk extra?

Anyone who is still a chairman of a multi million pound business at the age of 80+ is no longer doing so because they "need the money" it is because they enjoy the power trip or in the case of sport, they love the club. We know that option two isn't the reason we are still stuck with Bates.
