Fair enough. It is a shame she didn't take the chance, I don't know the reasons behind her decision. But thats one woman given the chance out of hundreds/thousands of clubs. Hardly enough to make an argument for or against really. If there were lots of wonen coaching at higher levels failing like a lot of the male coaches do then that would be different.

She called them a 'bunch of amateurs', or something similar.

Hope Powell was in talks with Grimsby at one point, so a female manager here might not be all that far off.

Regardless of who you are, what you look like and what you believe in, if you're good enough for the job, you'll get it on merit.

BBC are doing the same with their new rule that there must be at least one woman on every panel show. Again, people should be on those panel shows based on how funny they are, their knowledge in music or intelligence (talking about Mock the Week/Would I Lie to You, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and QI respectively).

In an ideal world your second sentence would be true. Unfortunately due to centuries of inequality and prejudice this simply does not happen. You cannot reverse this in a half a century, even a century.
