Yes, he who can be relied upon to steady the ship, keep feet firmly on the floor and just about any other journalistic cliché you care to mention, has 'nailed it' one more time http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...ause-for-the-canary-nation-to-keep-the-faith/
He does speak a hell of a lot of sense majority of the time. He also puts everything in perspective which is needed when analysing are current position. I do think we need to improve our style of play and a higher calibre of attacking players will hopefully improve our style.
what a good read that is, thanks Cromer i must admit it is hard sometimes to sit back and remember what we are trying to do in the long run, and the hard times that came before the recent period. a worthy reminder
My sentiments on 2012/13 exactly.Yes we would love to be cheering the team on to last gasp 4-3 victories every week but ultimately the big prize is that third season.
No different to any other article he writes I'm afraid. He's always hawking back to the past as if it justifies anything in the present. He is a good writer but (much like me) he's just reiterating what he's said countless other times. No suggestion of improvements although to be fair that's not his job as a writer.
Do you not think naturally are style of play will improve with more accomplished players in midfield? Let's be honest we barely have any creativity in the midfield who also have the bite and that defensive edge to their game to therefore suit the formation. Players like Biglia do, a player we know Hughton was interested in. From what I've gathered Hughton is building from the back, which includes midfield hence probably why Fox doesn't get into the team (although I think he should). My point is that if we manage to get a player in the Biglia mould, our style of play will naturally improve, I think Tettey showed he has that in his game when on form. Perhaps a better example of this is Snodgrass, he's kept Bennett out the team because he does contribute defensively as well as being a more creative player and usually at the heart of our good play. I hope that makes sense, but I think it will improve with more Snodgrass-esque signings.
Building from the back is absolutely fine, but if your just adding numbers your not building from the back you're building up the back. It's just not a solution to build on as far as I'm concerned. Not to the degree he swamps that defence in case of a counter attack. What happens if he takes that protective midfield away to allow new players in and we fall to pieces? We are back to square one and a whole season of building could be straight down the toilet. I'm really not convinced he's planning to change the style next season, it's to risky for him, I think he'll just change the players and hope we become a stronger attacking force. If he does both then we'll all be happy.
I expect to see some of the deadwood at the back go though: Tierney Barnett Ward Ayala (Although I hope not, think he is a defender who is comfortable on the ball) I suppose we'll have to see in the summer, but I do think that with more accomplished players and hopefully they'll be given more freedom we will see more possession in games, similar to how we were before Christmas, although I didn't like how we ended up with 11 players in the box in the second half against Sunderland and Swansea.
