Don't know if this has already been reported today but I read somewhere (I think it was BBC rumour page) that Carroll apparently outbid a Toon fan for a signed Nolan shirt only to give it too the bloke for nowt.

I don't know when this was (if he was still playing for us at the time) but it seems like a very canny gesture. If it was recently, as in when he signed for Liverpool, it seems to be the actions of someone who genuinely loves the people here and certainly not the actions of someone who wants out the club. Perhaps then a sign that he was forced out by those in charge because Liverpool's offer was just so big?

If this was when he was still playing for us though, I guess it reveals nowt.

That, or he's desperate not to look like a money grabbing twat so he's doing over the top actions like this to get him into the geordie goodbooks.

I fail to see how someone can be "forced out" really though, hes on a contract and if he loved the club so much he would say I'm staying.

I think he saw the amount of money that was being offered and his head was turned, simple as that.

However I would wager that Mike Ashley was giggling like a school girl when he found out Carroll actually wanted to leave.

I think MA wanted the move more than AC but at the end of the day he didn't have to go!

    Interesting side note:

Carroll makes £900 in 2 hours, he probably made double that during the auction.

I thought he got out of the NE 'cos of the domestic crap he got himself into! I want him to do well wherever he goes, however the ultimate thing to get into our Geordie good books is if becomes injured before he plays against us or he scores the winner against the Mackems or he is a total flop for the Scousers and we have the option to buy him back for a couple of million...or......

Really looking forward to Liverpool on Mayday, he's going to get a rousing reception but not the one he was used to!

He wasn't forced out and all those naiive people who fall for little propaganda like giving away a signed Nolan shirt need to accept it. His agent told him about Liverpool's contract, he greedily demanded a new one from Newcastle, they stood their ground, telling him they'd offer him a new one in the summer (which is VERY generous considering he only signed in October), he didn't find this acceptable and put in a transfer request. Hard to blame someone for wanting to triple his wages overnight, but all his "i want to be this and that at Newcastle" is what put a bitter taste in people's mouths considering he jumped at the first offer he got to a club that aren't in a massively better position than us. If he goes to Chelsea I'd understand, even Spurs I'd have understood more than Liverpool. It could only have ever been about money and that's it.

Heard about the shirt and thought good one Andy.

Don't see him doing it just to get in good books, the lad can look after himself and he wont be worried when we play Liverpool.

Not bothered if he ran or was pushed to Liverpool, thats who he plays for now, enough said.

A few month's ago Carroll was flavour of the week and on the old 606 a lot of fans were Praising him for breaking Steven Taylors jaw, not me I saw it as thuggish.. How fickle some people are!.
