Here we go then another quick quiz on the 'Sport of Kings'. Will these test the great brains on the forum more than last weeks?!? 1. Which trainer has a father called John and a brother called Ed also in the training ranks? 2. How many Royal Ascot winners has Hayley Turner ridden? 3. Name the jockey. I am currently on the sidelines injured. My father was also a NH jockey. Arguably, my biggest win to date came at Ascot on a horse I also rode to be placed in a Champion Hurdle. 4. On Saturday what did William Hill, Tesco, Yves Saint Laurent and The Inbetweeners movie all have in common? 5. Which trainer saddled 2 consecutive winners on the final day of the 2011 Cheltenham Festival? 6. Name the horse. I have ran within the past 10 days. In recent years I have been placed in the Triumph Hurdle, the Arkle, the Cesarewitch, the Champion Chase and the Hennessy Gold Cup. 7. In 'The Archers' earlier this year it was that old rogue, Eddie Grundy's, 60th birthday. At which racecourse did his party take place? 8. You are on a train pulling out of Paddington station. You stop at such salubrious locations as Reading, Chippenham and Taunton. Assuming there are no delays what racecourse do you trundle past approximately 3 and a quarter hours after leaving Paddington? 9. The father of our PM Mr Cameron had a share in a horse which won a Group 1 race in the 1990's. But who trained this horse? 10. Name the horse. I'm a 9YO trained by Mark Rimell but have yet to win a race. My namesake though had even less luck being executed just over 500 years ago during the reign of Henry VII. On the scaffold this man revealed he was really a humble Belgian rather than English nobility. I'll put the answers up mid-morn tomorrow.
6.5/10 correct. Nass, you came unbelievably close to getting Q4 correct - just the wrong TV programme! The answer to Q8 is Newton Abbot, by the way, as opposed to Exeter. On a direct train from Paddington (via Reading, Chippenham and Taunton) it takes usually takes around 160 - 175 minutes to Exeter as opposed to 3 and a quarter hours to Newton Abbot. Also on this line it is only Newton Abbot racecourse that the train actually trundles past (a matter of metres, in fact, away from the back straight!). The answers are: 1. Harry Dunlop 2. None 3. Andrew Tinkler 4. They all advertised during Channel 4 Racing 5. Mr Henderson 6. Fair Along 7. Felpersham 8. God's own racecourse, Newton Abbot 9. John Dunlop (the horse was called Hello) 10. Perkin Warbeck
