Because we are playing to their strengths rather than trying to force them to play to a system they are not suited to play. Hopefully LM has learned not to be so dogmatic about sticking to his way. He said something in his presser recently that appears to back this up, to paraphrase him, sometimes there is too much snobbery about systems. It was after we’d scored on the break, I think it was Nakhi’s goal where Sykes broke and put a perfect ball across for Nakhi to head in. He appears to to be a bit more relaxed about things, I like this new LM, long may it continue. COYR
Amen brother with you 100% -long may in continue Can't wait to see------------ Dickie-Atkinson-Mcnally as a three ——some central defence that
If you’re saying we are back to how we played previously then you’re wrong. It’s more about the players are now playing to the way he wants them to play. We are playing the best we’ve played in years.
I agree, the style is the same, the current players are just carrying out better than those at the start of the season. It’s going to be hard for some players such as, Twine, Williams, Atkinson to get back in when fit.
I’ve not mentioned playing how we were previously. We are far more attacking than we used to be, which is good, but we aren’t aimlessly passing along the back line, nor are we trying to play out from the back constantly either. Our passing is much quicker and with more intent,,also our transition is much quicker. To me at least we seen to be playing a system that suits our players strengths rather than expecting them to adapt to fit a system. Also we appear, away at least, to be much more counterattacking rather than trying to dominate possession all the time. Middlesbrough and Norwich are both good examples of this imo
It's all about gelling as a team. The players needed game time for it all to come together.. Injuries has made it more difficult, but most can see it coming together nicely
I wonder whether the injury situation is a vicious circle. Having players out injured leaves less scope for rotation, which in turn caused more injuries. A small squad is all well and good, as it allows players to players, and systems, time to gel, but over a season too much game time means, inevitably players will get muscle injuries. The game is so quick and intense these days players need to manage their bodies more.
