Anne Keothavong is through to the second round at Wimbledon after triumphing in her all-British clash against Naomi Broady. Broady got off to a good start on Court 12 before errors crept into her game alloweing Keothavong to win the first set with ease. Keothavong broke Stockport-born Broady's serve in the fifth game of the second set and maintained the advantage to secure a comfortable win. Broady opened the match with an emphatic service game, but missed her one opportunity to take hold of the match when he failed to convert a break-point in the next game. After that it was largely Keothavong all the way. She broke her fellow Briton with a forehand pass in the fifth game. Broady's composure deserted her and she lost three game in a row to hand the first set to her opponent. She pulled herself together for the start of the second set but unforced errors again undermined her efforts. Keothavong broke and eventually served out for the match. The British number three faces Petra Kvitova in the next round, while Broady left the court in tears. Keothavong said: "It has been a tough year for me. I've had some good wins, but I've had some terrible losses. "But, I'm at the stage in my career where I just want to go out there and give it my best. I had to go out there as if it was my last Wimbledon. There's no guarantee that I'll be back again next year." Elena Baltacha also won to take her place in the second round.
