Newcastle have had a bid rejected by Ajax for Anita with the Dutch giants thought to be holding out for a fee in the region of £10-£12million for the Holland international. The Magpies are thought to be preparing a new offer for Anita, but now Sunderland have expressed an interest in the defensive midfielder. Black Cats boss Martin O'Neill is keen to bolster his midfield options this summer and has earmarked Anita as one of his top transfer targets. O'Neill has money to spend this summer and he is hoping to steal a march on North East rivals Newcastle by winning the race for Anita. A number of other Premier League clubs are thought to be tracking Anita with Aston Villa chief Paul Lambert a long-term admirer of the 23-year-old since his time in charge at Norwich. Ajax are reluctant to lose Anita, but know they would not be able to resist a sizeable offer for the all-action midfielder. .

Really hope we can get him, claims he is a midfielder but he plays LB for Ajax, and he is pacey, can pass and has a excellent cross Could be the help McClean could benefit from!
Beat me to the post! Could really do with him imo Can play left back and be a tank! I hope we can steal this one!
I could fall in love with Anita, well anyone could. Christ Almighty, was it REALLY that long ago? I'd have banged her back then.
I'm over joyed, no exstatic,, doing cartwheels..... Nope never heard of him........got a foreign name of a girl so must be good.......i think.
Here is my analysis on the player when rumour had it that NUFC was closing in on him, but that's four weeks ago. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/150418-Toon-set-to-sign-Anita?p=2960887&viewfull=1#post2960887
Analysis: Vurnon Anita is almost a copy of Nathan Dyer of Swansea. Same height, same type of player. Anita isn't a LB but more of a midfielder. He is a midget compared to the average height of LB's in the EPL. He is suitable as LB in the Eredivisie but not in the Premier League. He is quick, he is agile. But he is not a defender, that's why Van Marwijk dropped him out of the selection for the EC. As a defensive midfielder he is at his best. His passing and tactical skills are fine but his work rate and mentality is what stands out. He is like the small version Dirk Kuyt in that aspect. His man marking and tackling are great but his height(5ft 6) is his main weakness. I would rule him therefor not suitable for EPL. Note: i wrote this 4 weeks ago, before the start of Euro2012. People were asking me how good he was on the LB position and in that perspective i wrote this analysis. And i state again, not suitable for the EPL on LB position.
