<peacedove> unique charity football match to benefit the people of Liverpool will take place at Anfield later this month, which will include two All-Star line-ups of some of Europe's elite players.
The event, which has been organised by Liverpool FC's official charity, the Liverpool FC Foundation, will bring together two teams that will be selected by Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher as some of the most influential players they have played with or against.
Gerrard will take on the role of captain for one team, while Carragher will take on the same role for the other All-Star side. Managers and the final line-up of each All-Star team will be announced in the coming weeks.

Current Reds first-team players who are not on international duty will also play some part, as well as some of the Academy's brightest stars, plus the club's backroom staff will also be on hand to offer support.
Gerrard will leave Liverpool at the end of the season and this special match will give fans the opportunity to see him alongside some of their favourites - all to raise funds for the local community.

Proceeds raised will help to fund the Liverpool FC Foundation's community programmes, which benefit thousands of young people and adults throughout the city of Liverpool.
Funds will also support Alder Hey's new Hospital in the Park, as well as providing support packages to Claire House, Positive Futures, Centre 56 and Cash for Kids.
Tickets will initially be available to season ticket holders and LFC members from 1pm on Thursday March 5, with a general sale to follow at 8.15am on Wednesday March 11.

Alonso, Kuyt, Suarez, Torres, Reina, Carra all back! Man, what I'd give to have all of those still in the team.

Dirk Kuyt admitted to feeling overcome with emotion when the call came to invite him back to Anfield for the first time in three years.
The Dutchman, who spent six seasons with the Reds, last walked down the famous tunnel and touched the iconic sign against Chelsea in May 2012.
A month later, he brought a close association with the Kop to a finish, departing for pastures new at Fenerbahce in Istanbul.
It was there, in the Turkish capital, that Liverpoolfc.com caught up with Kuyt, who is all set to return to Merseyside at the end of this month to take part in a special All-Star charity match.
The event, which has been organised by the club's official charity, the Liverpool FC Foundation, will bring together two teams to be selected and captained by Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.
"To get the call was very exciting because I've never been back and it will be very special just to go back to Liverpool, to see the people, to go back to Melwood and say 'hello' to everyone," said the 34-year-old.
"I know a lot has changed since I've been gone. There's almost no-one left there anymore [from the squad I played with]. But when I got the phone call about the game, it was a bit emotional.
"To have the chance to go back one more time to Anfield, and to play with some of the teammates who I played with during my six years, will be amazing."
Kuyt will join the likes of Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres, Xabi Alonso, Pepe Reina, Thierry Henry, John Terry and Didier Drogba, as well as others, for the charity game on March 29.
First-team players who are not on international duty are also set to play some part, as well as Academy members and the club's backroom staff getting involved, all to raise funds for the local community.
"It's just a very positive feeling because you never expect these kinds of things to come back," said Kuyt.
"When I closed the door behind me after six years at Liverpool, you'll never forget the memories you had - the Champions League nights, the special days at Anfield.
"You never forget them. But you never expect to go back and play one more time at Anfield - and on such a special occasion."

I'd love to see Torres and Suarez up front, I'm at the point of letting the lad off. He's done his time and seems to realise his mistakes although he is yet to vocalise them. If he ever does it would be disrespectful to Chelsea and I would admire him for keeping his thoughts to himself and playing for us only in matches as an ex-pro.

I feel that this is what goes on in his personal thoughts and I could be well wrong, the future will tell its own tale but I don't think Torres will ever again put on a Chelsea shirt and if he does then he really is an idiot.

  12. Which one? :bandit:

I forgot what Torres did long ago. I've actually said for a while that I'd to see him return to a fraction of his old self. Is a bit soul destroying watching someone you idolised deteriorate so much. Same goes for Gerrard but obviously different circumstances.
