Rob Tanner says we have rejected an offer from Forest for Andy King.

Surely not!? Why would they think they have a chance of signing him?

Wasn't he also linked to Leeds a few weeks back? Can't see him leaving us to be honest, especially not for another Championship club.

    What's going on!?

They'll always be speculation at this time of year - I'd be surprised to see him go myself - he always weighs in with a good goal tally from midfield and that is a priceless commodity in a midfield player. He wasn't however always first choice last season (although he did cement his place during the run in - and I thought he was our best player by some distance over those last few games) and some clubs will have picked up on that and may therefore be testing the water with a 'commitment' to him starting etc.

    King to Forest <laugh>

No chance. He will either go to the prem or stay. More then likely he will stay

Kingy and Matty James really showed a great understanding together in the the run in and played a massive role in getting us 6th place

Id take 3-4m for him, i don't really rate him as highly as others do, yes he gets the odd stunner, but i would prefer a CM that can play passes that unlock defences every game.

Have to disagree with you there Wizard, I think he's a very good player. Fair enough he does sometimes go missing in big games, but his goalscoring record for a central midfielder is pretty impressive.

Kingy is worth around 4M to us. Goalscoring midfielders dont come cheap

I cant see Nigel letting him go either as he was the manager who really brought King through.

I doubt King will want to leave to go to Forest. I have a feeling Cardiff will show an interest

He may be worth 4m to you guys but I doubt any "buying" clubs would offer anywhere near that. Howson imo was a better goalscoring CM in the championship and he went for just over 2m, was younger too

    Would make sense.

If we're looking to sell before we buy then he's got to be our most valuable asset that we can replace.

Having watched highlights recently I've noticed how much his game has come on. He's got all the potential to be an incredible midfield player, he's still young enough to achieve this. Look at Lampard and Gerrard; he's in their mould. Strong, quick, with a good eye for goal but also a good tackle. He's not the finished product yet, so I'd love for us still to keep hold of him.

Regardless of what his true value is you have to pay what he is worth to the club.

    Howson better goalscoring mid <laugh>

King has scored 50 goals in 4 and a half seasons. His best tally in a season is 16 in the championship.

What is Howsons? 11 and every other season he couldnt get past 5

Yea I know that you have to pay what the selling club wants but I don't think anyone would offer more than around 2m. Therefore you probably won't sell

Although, I am interested if you could put a figure next to each one of your first team's name to say how much you think you would sell them for, not a WuM I would just be interested to know

Howson is a far far better CM imo than King is. I wasn't really comparing their goalscoring records more the fact they both score goals from CM but he is better at everything else, cuts open defences with pinpoint passes, works incredibly hard, surprisingly very quick (probably our quickest first team player in that first season in the champ) and gets the goals from CM. I would say thats why he is currently playing in the Prem whereas King is currently in the championship

As we have strong finacial backing all the players we want to keep clubs are going to have to pay over the odds.

Howson doesnt start every week in the prem and just because he plays in the prem it doesnt mean he is a better player.

Nigel surely has an eye on someone to get rid of Drinkwater. If he goes we really need 2 midfielders

Surely we need to be looking to shift Konchesky and ****bread aswell

@Walkerpw: On Richie Wellens speculation, Doncaster Chairman John Ryan says " how could we not be interested ? he's a legend here " #drfc

I still dont think Drinkwater will go. But if he does it can be for either ability or budget cuts

If Drinkwater is on a 'list' being circulated to clubs and agents then i think he will definitely be going - that doesn't sound like a retrievable situation to me.

I want King to stay and revert back into his attacking midfielder role which Drinkwater has been playing - he has scored a good many as a more defensive midfielder last season but attacking is his strength imho.
