When we bought him off Luton, for a nominal fee, I said we must preach caution. Everbody said what a brilliant player he was for Luton, and that he was too good for that league, and how well he was going to do for us. I did say that I hoped they were right, but there is no comparison between the championship and the conference. There are exceptions, but sorry have seen this guy play, and he is well out of his depth.
He's not injured but he's way down the pecking order. Must be hard for you to hear our hatters friends, but he's going to waste at Town.
Its a shame everytime I have seen him he has looked really really good. Last year when he came on he looked so much better than both Norris or Leadbitter. I really liked the look of him, his vision and passing ability is brilliant but the one thing I've seen that is a down point is that he seems to try the difficult pass or audacious bit of skill every time so 50% of his passes are magical and the other 50% go straight to the opposition, perhaps he is just trying to impress. I hope he will eventually get in the team, its good to see players step up some leagues. truth seeker he's definitely not out of his depth in this league, I've seen many more worst midfielders play for town in recent years than Drury.
would anyone on here prefer to carry on with leadbitter (our captain) rather than give drury a chance (about our 6th choice central midfielder at the moment). says a lot about how low we all hold leadbitter, we cant all be wrong surely?
I like Drury but cant honestly see how he would fit in our team on a regular basis unfortunately. When we signed him wasnt it reported that he could play anywhere across midfield? If so I reckon battling for a wide position is his best chance, especially with Martin out of the picture
He could play anywhere across midfield, that is correct, but that was at Conference level, this is the championship, one of the hardest leagues in Europe. As I have said before, I do not think this guy is good enough for this level, would be amazed if he gets a regular spot, and sincerely hope he proves me wrong.
Not quick enough to play on the wing and looks out of his depth in the centre. Would do ok in a midfield three but we have better options, good backup IMO
" Not quick enough to play on the wing and looks out of his depth in the centre. " Not remember Darren Currie ? Zero pace but class outwide. Pace isn't everything however can help. I think Drury looks alright actually, to play CM he'd definitely need to play as part of a 3. Actually offers something unlike Donkey Leadbitter. Any info on Drury going to Crawley ? Can't see it anywhere...!
Too much competition for him to make the first team right now and he's not an obvious choice, even more so now Bullard is here. Useful to have as back-up and I'd certainly pick him over Leadboots any day but, there are several in the queue ahead of him for me. He actually did impress on his debut but never seemed to build on from there. If Crawley is an option then good for him to get some playing time under his belt.
Cant spot anything anywhere, other than this very old news, which shows they have had an interest before so might well be making enquiries now.... http://www.thisissussex.co.uk/Luton-warn-Town/story-12599398-detail/story.html
I can see the Crawley connection Mr "I'm a criminal" Evans had a good look at him last season in the BSP,,, But thanks for your responses,, It was a blow loosing him, as at BSP level he was motoring !!!
Currie could tie defenders legs in knots with his fients and dummys but I've not seen any evidence that Drury has those kinds of tricks in his locker. I agree he is a far better option that Leadbitter! Hopefully he will bugger off on loan and Drury will stay.
With the renewed interest in Drury and him playing against Forest do you still think he out of his depth...??? I can't see him coming back to Luton, Crawley may not be able to justify the wages,( according to League rules you should only be spending 55% of your revenue on wages, Crawley must be over this big time).. I wonder what figure PJ had in mind that he agreed with fat-boy Evans before the loan ????
was for me the best player on the pitch for us on Monday. Having said that we were the biggest pile of dog do-do the world has ever seen so you could view it as either. a) he done very well in a championship level match or b) he played very well in a team that would make a team composing of maggot riddled corpses seem like Barca
