So Andy Drury has moved to Crawley on loan with a view to make it permanent in Jan. (Source TWTD) Now I'm a PJ fan and feel that the team will come good once they've had time to gel but I don't understand why PJ is potentially getting rid of players he signed under a year ago. I know Drury was cheap at 150k so we won't have lost much money (we could even make a profit), but if PJ signs players I would like them to be given a decent chance. It's not exactly like the team has been setting the world alight! COYB's
I said we must preach caution, when we first bought Drury, people were saying how good he was, but that was the conference, this is the championship. To me, its obvious he is well out of his depth in the championship. Bear in mind the training staff see him play every day, and have ruled, in not so many words, that he will do better in a lower grade of football, it was a longshot when we bought him, lets move on now.
I think to say out of his depth is harsh. He has mainly played in a poor Town team with only fleeting appearances. He may well be a dud but has he ever been given a run of games to acclimatise to life at this level? It seems the club is way to quick to forget about players after 1 bad performance, unless your initials are GL or DD when you can be crap for 3 years and nobody cares
When I watched his first appearance, I thought the guy was going to be fanatastic - hasn't really had much of an opportunity since.......
That’s a fair point about training, I agree that if he is not performing on the training pitch then why should he be given a chance to do it for real. Although, obviously I don’t know how he is training…. I just hope that the permanent switch in Jan isn’t set in stone. If he goes down there and sets the world alight (all be it at a lower level), I’d like to see him return with confidence and be given a chance on Saturday afternoons.
