Good, deserves every boo, hiss and tomato thrown his way. Serious, serious apologies and explanations are needed.
Didn't know he was on Twitter. Gonna have to give him a few abusive tweets... What's his Username? @FatTosser?
Just search Paul Duffen, but it's now a locked account, he has to approve you and if you ask him anything controversial, you'll get blocked.
The lawyer who acted for us against Duffen has been struck off for misleading the court in unrelated case and he's hoping to use that to suggest he was dodgy in all his cases, to get the FA to allow him to be involved in a football club again.
Did Phil Brown get booed? And how about the Ashbee haters? Did they get a chance to show their feeling too? Did anyone tell Dawson he was finished and too slow?
I was there last night and there were a few boos when he was introduced but the "Brendan" ?(worked for the club in 2008)who was comparing asked everyone to keep it light hearted and remember it was Dawson's night. When Duffen did take to the stage with Phil Brown he did say some sensible things like how it would be almost impossible to find footballers going into the Premier league now who came through the divisions and were not bothered about celebrity, were just good old fashioned footballers who wanted to win, none of the fancy stuff. He certainly still revels in the glory of it all but stayed clear of any controversial remarks. There were plenty of people talking to him later and he seemed to really enjoy himself. Brian Horton just came across as a gentleman, didn't say very much really apart from the run up to Wembley they tried to keep everyone's feet on the ground. Can't remember which of the three said it but they took advice from Dawson, Barmby and Windass who told them that the club should not get carried away with it all and stay grounded, stay connected to the fans in a way that the fans would understand. Phil just talked about the run up to Wembley, how he asked Fergie for advice and this is the reason he kept the players off the pitch before the game. All been said before many times I would think. Deano and Barmby were a comedy double act, Deano joking that if it had been Barmby that scored the goal instead of him he wouldn't have ended up in rehab. It was a really good night, enjoyed it very much and the short film they showed of the play off matches and Wembley sent a shiver up my spine.
Brown was very popular. Ashbee was not there unfortunately, said his lad was ill. Showed a 4 minute film of Dawson's 10 years. I had forgotten how brilliant his goals were.
Hope the raised a lot of money last night and he got the evening he richly deserved. At the risk of upsetting the knuckle draggers, fair play to Duffen for attending. He could easily have made his excuses. (Was AP there?)
Its a good job Martin Fish didn't show his face then. If the only chairman to ever get this club to the premiership gets booed for turning out in his own time when he wasn't on the original guest list is shows the mentality of some of our supporters. Every player there last night who played for City under Duffens leadership was a millionaire, I bet none of them were booing.
