Hi, Newcastle fan here Just wondering how Andy Carroll is getting along and how good you think he is? At Newcastle I thought he was the complete striker, more pace than people think, scores all types of goals, plays with passion, helps out defending from corners, has strength and everything He doesn't seem to be doing aswell at Liverpool - but he will come good imo
Seriously the ponytail needs to go, not from a fashion point of view but for a psychological new beginning, it's like it's his Newcastle umbilcial chord!
the voronin drag factor is holding himback no question I just think if he gets the time and support he'll be great
I personally think Carroll will come great with yous in time, but for now he is fustrating to watch for yous at the moment, his touch seems to be terrible and isnt playing with passion any more...maybe second half of the season i can see him start banging them in, dont think he has recovered from leaving the north east
there is that for sure..... as young man in a new city, none of us can say what he does with his time off but people like capello have made him a big press target sp he could be quite bored... even boyzone don't play enough gigs you know
He's doing ok but Liverpool as a team are changing the way they play and it's just taking him slightly longer then the others to adjust. We have signed players who play to his strenghs and I beilive we WILL play to his strenghs which in time can only bring good things to Liverpool as no-one can deny his quality.
The only thing that worries me about Andy is the way we play when he is on the field, when Kuyt and Suarez are up top we are fluent and the ball doesn't leave the ground too often but once big Andy gets on/is on the ball is hoofed up to him rather than played into his feet (Carra bein the main culprit) and the fluidity just seems to be lacking- hopefully that will come with time playing together though. I'm a big fan of him, he is a massive threat in the air and definitely looking forward to seeing him vs De Gea- only one winner there I reckon
I have confidence in him, he has a cracking left foot as well as his head. I noticed that when he shoots with his left, it is always on target bar any deflections.
He'll turn out alright... whether £30 odd million alright remains to be seen. He has talent- and has scored a goal and had two good ones disallowed- so he has hit them in for us this season no matter if officially he hasn't. He's not a complete footballer yet. He's got lots of natural talent but he needs to work on his game somewhat. I almost think he'd make a more natural centre-back to be honest... nonetheless, I don't expect to see the best of him this season- I think it will take a year or more longer before we see what he's capable of. He still seems pretty raw. His movement is predictable and he's easily marked. His fame went up with that record transfer- opposition are paying attention and marking him more.
No doubt a lot of people judge him on his price tag, which is why some people will see him as a disappointment. The reason he started on the bench against Bolton was more likely because they're a more specialist team in the air and Carroll will find it harder to bully their defense, expect the same at Stoke. I don't think it had anything to do with his previous performances, especially off the back end of a game in which he scored.
I am a big fan of Carroll and was whilst he was at Newcastle to. I think he has great stage presence on the pitch. He really does have a certain air about him. I think his strength, height and fight will be a great tool for Liverpool for years to come. I also think he has great reflexes. Look at his long range goal against Liverpool last season, his first goal for Liverpool against Man City, his first goal for England and his goal against Exeter the other week. Not only does he act quickly to get the shot off every time, but the shot is powerful, brilliantly placed and right in the sweet spot. With all those goals the ball came at him quick, he was under pressure and it wasn't from easy range either. They were brilliant reaction goals. I question his fitness at the moment. But once he's got over that he will be great I am sure.
I do like him, and I do agree he is very raw. If we can give him the right service and the rest of the side learns how get the best out of him then he's going to be an asset, his shooting accuracy with his left foot is outstanding. He is possibly the best header of a ball in the premiership. He just needs to have the confidence to attack the ball more.
I agree with you on this. The right service can get him firing on all cylinders, Downing hasn't got an assist yet and you can put your money on Carroll being his first recipient.
I think Carroll is getting frustrated with the ball being booted up to his head aswell, i've seen him ask for the ball to feet in quite a few games he's played. Hopefully it's just a 'getting to know you' thing and he'll soon be banging them in. He's a had a few chalked off which probably shouldn't have been too. He's a big asset but one that is being used the wrong way at the mo. imo.
Yeah, it's a damn shame that goal didn't stand against against Sunderland. Would have done him and us the world of good.
Hopefully Jose Enrique can put some much more useful balls into him, and then the rest can follow suit.
