I know everyone will be sick to death of this whole fiasco but after what I was told last night I thought it needed to be known.

I was at my father-in-law's birthday meal last night and his brother told me he was speeking to Bob Moncur the other day. He asked Bob what the crack was with the Carroll situation to which Bob replied "the whole thing was engineered by the club because they wanted to cash in, the whole contract thing was designed to force Carroll out"

This is only the second time I've ever posted insider information, the first time was why Keegan quit because of not signing Sweinsteiger, I posted that on 606 three days before the club announced they had almost signed him and three days before the media had any idea! If it was a rumour then I'd say so, but on this occasion it's not.

My wifes uncle is no bull****ter and I believe him 100%, make of it what you will but this IS Bob Moncurs opinion on what happened. I'd believe Bob 100% more than I'd believe anything that is said by the club under Llambias and Ashley.

On a more positive note I had the Garlic Crab starter and Lobster Jalfezee main, was fantastic :)

Carroll still could have said No to talks with Liverpool he didn't have to get on the helicopter.

Your right, he didn't have to sign but from what Bob has indicated he felt he had no choice! I suppose you'd have to put yourself in his shoes, hard to imagine but I bet we'd all do something different, some would dig their heels in and others would do the same as Carroll and think of his long and short term future?

I heard that Carroll was told if Liverpool bid 35 mil he was out the door.

No wonder he went, Ashley proving he wanted the money and not the player.

Thats the point here barnaby, not what Carroll should or should not have done, we'd all do something different and your opinion of Carroll for his actions are up to the individual!

What should be highlighted here is the fact that the club have yet again lied to the fans about their intentions and the lack of progress the team will ever be able to make when we cash in on our best players without even replacing them.

I fear another relegation beckons, we're only 6 points clear of the drop zone with three strikers who in my opinion are not good enough at this level (Ranger might be in time but not yet) to score the goals to get us enough points to stay up :(

If we do avoid relegation it will be by the skin of our neck.

Carroll is injured but still to sell him when we are thin on the ground with quality striker's, pure madness.

Now we have Shola out for 6 weeks, I have no idea where the goals are going to come from.

Yeah Best got a hatrick against WHU but they were very poor.

Off to the game this afternoon, don't think we will get anything from it only a better perormance than Wednesday.

I can well believe the club manipulated the transfer, the timing was such we were left in a pretty shaky position too late in the day to buy any players ourselves. I have to wonder what Andy Carroll thought would happen to him had he refused to go, come the summer I'm sure there would have been more offers for him. I think there is some truth in what both sides have said, I can only console myself by saying we only want players who want to be here.

I firmly believe the club wanted to cash in on Carroll. But they couldn't have had much time to 'engineer' the situation since there's no way Liverpool would have signed him without knowing Torres was going to Chelsea, and he didn't put in a transfer request until 4 days before the deadline.

Makes sense, especially when combined with what Henry (Liverpool owner) has said about the negotiations - It was up to Newcastle to set the price, they'd pay that and Chelsea would pay £15m more for Torres (combined with the £6m for Babel makes Suarez effectively cost £1.8m)

Made an article on it overnight but got no interest
