I rarely make comment on refs' decisions but Carroll swung his elbow at Flores. On that basis, and that basis alone a sending off was correct. It's the swing, not the reason, provocation, player, team or even how effective the swing is that makes such an action deserve a sending off.

Vin

Yes. What it all comes down to Is whether you think he did it deliberately or not. I think he did, especially given the circumstances, but when I saw it again its not so cut and dry. Don't think there is enough evidence to suggest it was Accidental therefore can't see that it should be rescinded. Chico deserved a yellow for his foul and probably another for his theatrics. He epitomises all that is wrong with modern football.

Glad this little circus is over

It's little wonder the other players are not performing with confidence when they're constantly reminded by the West Ham hierarchy that they're effectively a one man team. Can't say i'm too bothered he will miss our game. They've got in some loan signings who may well cause us problems. At least with Carroll you know what you're going to get.

For what it's worth I think the FA made the right decision by not overturning the on field decision of a red card. I know from personal experience that Carroll meant it as i've done similar things. When you're faced with a niggling opponent like Flores who can wind you up then you do end up taking subtle digs back. Leaning into challenges more, off the ball digs. Carroll thought he was being clever and took the opportunity to get an "accidental" hit on Chico. Flores went down like rat and Carroll doesn't look so clever.

Next time Andy, go for the ribs.

I am glad he is suspended for our game, I remember last season when he was throwing himself to the floor at every available opportunity looking for cheap free kicks......in fact he reminded me of a leaping salmon.
It was embarrassing.

That's their style of play though isn't it? All they seemed to do was hoof it high enough up in the air so that Carroll had enough time to get underneath it and attempt to win a free-kick from which they could send their centre-backs forward to try and score. Then repeat.

Carroll actually played well in against Swansea, and Sam`s game plan worked as intended. Without Carroll they can`t play that way, since Calton Cole is such a big blouse. I don`t blame them for trying to appeal the the red card, but it was a red all day long.

West Ham won.... without... Carroll?!:emoticon-0104-surpr

I thought that simply wasn't possible from their reaction this week.

It's almost like he's not even all that good... <whistle>
