Andy Carrol would like to realise his Anfield dream by not making his move to Westham permanent. Liverpool have the option of recalling him in January.I am not sure of Liverpool's manager position on this. Do you want Andy Carroll back at Anfield?. Comments:
Rogers has already stated he will not be calling Carroll back from his loan spell with West Ham which I would take as an indication we will see a new signing in January.
What he actually said was he hasn't thought about whether to bring him back or not (which I find a tad strange). Will he be brought back? I doubt it. Should he be? Yes IMO. Whatever pot we have for transfers in Jan either needs to be split on two strikers or we could just bring Mandy back and spend it all on a one top class player
Lets face it, Carroll isnt Rogers type of player. If he was recalled in Jan it would be because of desperation on not signing another striker and even then Rogers would look to sell in the summer again. Dont see much of a future for Carroll at Liverpool. And the money used in a permanent deal would go back into funding a player who Rogers does want at the club
What if it was Carroll that wanted to go to West Ham? Get out of the limelight for a bit whilst refinding form? Would Rodgers reject him if Andy said he was ready to come back? (not that I think this is the case or he has refound form)
Or BR could give him a go I don't see the harm personally. January is an expensive time to buy (certainly to buy quality) plus every club the world over will jack the prices up knowing we're desperate. Bring Carroll back and we're in a much better bargaining position. Make one quality signing then we have a squad again. If we need to sell Carroll in Jan to buy another player then FSG will have serious questions to answer. Give me a choice right now...Carroll or Borini and I aint picking Borini.
The statistics and football-related analysis have proved that Carroll is not a hoofball style player. A season review of his movement, link up, and goals would fit perfectly into this team. However it seems Brendan is trusting the typical commentator cliche of - well he's tall so he can't play with the ball. I'd like to see him come back, but if it's at his expense (development) then maybe not till the summer.
I agree about Carrolls style and that his reputation is unjust but I also think his development needs come second to our need for some bloody firepower at the moment. I do think he earned a chance at the back end of last season and during the Euros to be given a chance for 6 months at least.
Again I'm going to say it. I don't think it's AC that BR thinks is incapable of playing the style. I think he believes its inate in those around him to instinctively hoof the ball to him when under pressure or desperate for a goal. And that's the last thing BR wants. He has removed the temptation to ensure it doesn't happen. Is it unfair on Carroll: yes. Is it even maybe underestimating the current squads ability to be disciplined enough not to do it with AC in the team, maybe. But I can understand why at a time when so many young players he has a chance of instilling his vision (the reason he was employed) he doesn't want it "corrupted" to be slightly overdramatic to make my point.
Lets face it Carroll looks like he has the IQ of a jellyfish, and Rodgers will not want that in any team of his. We need more than "HULK...SMASH...CARROLL...HEAD" Good luck to him, I hope he finds a team that will play to his strengths, but it sure ain't us.
Come on, really? You think Carroll can make the same movement off/on the ball that suso/sterling/suarez are making? No chance. That's the type of player BR wants, that's what Carroll isn't. That's why he won't be playing again for this club.
Our movement off the ball this season up front has been ****ing pants in fairness. We never have bodies in the box, we rarely have runners making the right runs and we have no physical presence whatsoever up top. Norwich apart our attackers have been next to useless all season as a unit. At what point would AC have made it any worse?? Not blaming the youngsters because they're new to playing against top class defenders but it's a serious issue we show no signs of improving.
Maybe this is Rodgers masterplan? remove Carroll from the side to sort out the team playing style, remove all need or want for hoofball and then bring him back next season, he'll have had regular games and he'd work with the new style
Andy will never be the superstar we need or want him to be. I don't think we will see him in the shirt again tbh
Bozz if that works it would be great. A team of fluid passing intelligent footballers & a battering ram of a man who can also play with his feet to smash against the likes of stoke: a real plan b if you like. Problem is I don't think BR is that smart lol. I think like many managers before him he has an instinctive dislike of a certain type of footballer & he wanted rid. To be fair though Carroll smacks of a confidence player. Could you see Andy keeping form only playing 8 games of a season? Or 29 minutes here & there?
Rodgers better call Carroll back in Jan. When Andy plays well he is a bit of a mare to deal with, had nothing in the FA cup final until he came on and almost won us the game. We had nothing going for us in that game without something solid to work off up front. Stoke was a similar situation. His very presence draws the largest defenders away from Suarez ect on set pieces. We could have let Huth try deal with Andy which would have given Suarez a bit more freedom. Andy was never going to start every game. He is an option we don't have right now. You are always going to need someone like him at some point.
Rodgers wants a striker to me more than just a striker. Suarez spends as much time as a false 9 as a main striker. I'm not sure Carroll will do that successfully. He'd make a great alternative option. But the owners think he is to expensive to have on the bench.
As in wages? Well we're paying a part of his wages anyway and Borinis on top so what was the point. Whatever anyone says about his style or abilities he'd have been a damn site more useful than FB this season. Maybe BR should reconsider wanting a striker who's more than just a striker and remember it's goals that win games Now I appreciate he isn't ever going to get us 40 a season but he occupies other defenders and is quite simply better than the **** all option we have at the moment. Will be pretty pissed off if we don't recall him in Jan AND bring in reinforcements as well. Anyone see Uniteds fourth choice striker last night? Nice to have those sort of options eh.
