Don't remember seeing this on here, so I thought I'd post a link to it. Nice finish.
Good lad. I'd like him to stay at the club this season but given that he's not go on tour in SA, I guess he'll end up out on loan again.
He's suggested that he'd like to go back to Millwall again this season, SF. I'd rather he was loaned out to another Premier League side, if that were possible.
I would've expected that he was loaned to a PL side too but it's positive that he's showing loyalty to Millwall and wants to have another season there so I'd be inclined to let him go back to Millwall if it's what he wants. I'd like him to stay for the first half of the season, however, allowing him to play in the League Cup and possibly getting some Europa Leage game time also, if it's true that we're going to rest our main players for the tournament
With our squad at the moment and not accounting for any sales, he's in competition for places on the wings with Lennon, Bale, van der Vaart, Pienaar, Kranjcar, Bentley, Dos Santos and Rose. You'd assume that a number of those would be on the way out, but it's still a large number of players to get passed, before you even consider any possible signings.
Of those, only Lennon, Bale and Rose have any pace at all, and 'Arry thinks Rose is a LB not LW. Pienaar is the defensive option, Townsend the attacking option. Plenty of space for him. Plus he has really developed his right foot, and that is a big weapon for a left winger.
I like him CN and I'd like to see him given game time, but who do you think Redknapp would pick, given the choice of him, Pienaar or Kranjcar?
PNP - I know what you mean, but I don't buy into this idea that it is better for a youngster to play day in, day out at a Championship club than get the odd run out for us. He might prefer it, but I reckon he'd learn more training with us, and we'd learn more about him. Plus, if he could play RW as back up to Lennon, there's a chance that 'Arry might pick him there rather than Pienaar or Niko. Not that what we think counts for anything, though. Sounds like he's having a good one against MK Dons, though.
[/Ensil] ;-) I thought we'd accepted a bid for GDS? 'Arry has said Rose will be a left back, VDV and Bentley can't play on the left, whilst Kranjcar's possibly on his way out. Provided we rest players in the EL and we don't get knocked out in the first round of the CC again then there should be enough opportunities to keep him occupied for half season.
Is Kranjcar playing in the middle of the park with Livermore? I'd really like to see him given some time in the van der Vaart role. Really don't see why it doesn't get tried.
No, he has to get passes to them. Honest... Seville have said that no deal has been agreed for Dos Santos and I think that there are a few teams interested in him. We won't have any trouble selling him, in my opinion.
I see you ask this alot, its his weight issue imo, when its necessary to drop in to make a 5 man mid to defend for a period, he's too lazy. You know what Harry's like for the ol work ethic thing. And I don't know if its just me, but he has looked porky for ages, he's not as lean as he was at Portsmouth. On the other hand he pulls out stunning goals...another Pav...frustrating!, but you can't have too many of these defensively weak players on the pitch at the same time, you'll just get undone.
You're probably right about his workrate costing him a place Notso, but there were times last season when he was played on either wing, where it's probably more important to track back and offer cover to your full-back. There were also times when having somebody playing higher up the pitch and closer to the striker would've been extremely beneficial, as our lone man up top was often extremely isolated. He does look a little overweight, but he might shed some of those pounds if he were playing more games and was happier. Here's his goal from yesterday against MK Dons: Great finish, but he doesn't look to happy about it.
Maybe he meant to cross it. He can be a top player but I'd rather have Pienaar on the wing than Kranjcar. I think he's benefitted from having a preseason with the lads and hopefully we'll get to see some of his more attacking play that we saw at Everton. # I want to know who was responisble for the girlish screams, I think it might be Bale.
That's one of the reasons that I'd like to see Kranjcar tried in the van der Vaart role, SF. Assuming that our first choice midfield five will be Bale, Modric, Sandro (when fit), Lennon and the Dutchman, we could field a second five of Pienaar, Huddlestone, Palacios (Parker?), Townsend and Kranjcar. It's hard to pick the players at the moment, as we don't know who's going or staying, but we really need to use the squad better than we did last season. The Europa League should be an ideal place for that, but we need to stay in at and progress. Doing a Villa would be extremely disappointing.
I wouldn't be opposed to that, PNP. If we got a bid of £10mill, I'd rather we sold him if I'm honest but if he's prepared to knuckle down and get fully fit then I certainly won't be complaining if we didn't sell him.
He's suggested that Townsend will be involved in Europa and League Cup games or at least that he's being considered for them. Good for him.
