It's being reported in the Lancashire press that we have moved in and beat Bolton to the signing of Andrews, apparently O'Neil had him watched a few times at the end of last season by his scouts. I have seen people on here saying if we bring him in and get rid of Gardner for 5m then it's a good deal. No it isn't actually, the bottom line is he is not good enough for us and will certainly not bring anything to our squad apart from an extra body. Why can't we get rid of Gardner for 5m and not bring in Andrews? We already have enough cover for centre midfield. The bottom line is he is not good enough for Sunderland and I have tried to find some positives but came up with none.
the lad is ******* crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not an improvement at all Is he better in CM than Catts? No Colback? No Richardson? No Gardner? No Vaughan? No Meyler? No I cannot see the point in this signing if it comes off, it seems like a signing just to fill the 25man squad! We need players to come in who are potentially better than what we have or better than what we have, we do not need average plodder like Keith Andrews who I have no idea how he has lasted in the prem for so long, he is a championship player. We are average in central midfield, bar Colback who is going to be a top, top player we have a group of one paced, average players that have nothing special in there locker especially going forward with the ball. Yes we need a central midfielder but we need someone that can offer us something when we have the ball and cause the oposition problems. MoN is the man for us but this signing if it happens is woeful! Maybe the sort of player we should of went for in our first or second season back in the prem but this is our 6th!!!!!!!!!!! Need to get scouts out across europe if this is what we are looking at from the prem!!!! Rather have kept Riveros who is 3times the player Andrews is
Erm.... Oh dear. How reliable are local papers though. The one is York (York Press, how imaginative!) is terrible and the Journal/Chronicle are not exactly spot on either.
Hopefully the press are just putting us on a downer. When we do sign someone it will be "well, at least its not Andrews" rather than ffs who.
I assume that was said tongue firmly in cheek mate. MO'N is not known for being that brilliant in the transfer market but he does do well with the squad once he gets it. Why don't you have a decent scouting network like ours (not gloating but you would benefit) who could be in charge of transfers and leave him to do what he has proven to be one of the very best at... Managing!
rather give Billy Knott a chance in the squad than that pile of ***** I pray to god we do not sign him, if we do it shows that our scouting network needs totally revamping, there is the whole world out there to find potential, I would rather us go and bring in some young kid from Korea or Japan that has shown a bit of potential as a marketing tool in that part of the world than Andrews!!!!!!! The dutch, german and french league's have some unbelievable young players that we could bring in for a couple of million but the club keeps going for plodder like 5m man Gardner and now Andrews. The club needs a change in direction with regards to finding the next gem. As I said MoN is the man but bloody hell!! Please be just media rubbish
you dont hear me say this often about signings but he is ****.... i whouldnt want him in the wigan squad
Judging by your reaction I take it you aren't that keen poolie, to be fair haven't really noticed him or know much about him.
looked out of his depth against all the teams in the euros/qualifying (irish fans calling for him to be dropped) and released by his club west brom
not a fan at all mate, no better than what we have and we will never have a settled squad if we keep going for players like this as every summer we will be trying to move them on and replace them. I would rather gamble on someone who plays for 1 of the lesser nations that has looked good in the euros that still play in there homeland (like GabreSallesie would of been gd to compete at RB) than going for a player that will offer nothing to the squad. We have everything in place to kick on but we won't if we are going for Andrews, the club needs to show some ambition or grow a pair and take some risks, the last time we have taken risks have been on Mig and McClean, 2players that could of easily come to a new league and flopped but they are 2 of our best players and cost less than 3.5m combined!!!! There is players out there to be had on the cheap as those two prove it!!! Newcastle have shown the way in having a good scouting network, Carr takes all the credit but he won't be the only 1, he will have a team of very good scouts, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Cabaye and Cisse have been fantastic for them and if they sold them would get triple back what they bought them for
