Talk in the Mercury about City trying to get this 23 year old Croatian chap for £8m. Scoring record looks pretty decent - 37 in 40 for Rijeka.... . Would you prefer him or Defoe? Defoe proven in the Prem and QPR look like they're shafted with the old FFP so may not be able to afford him now. Commons from Celtic could still be an option? We could do with a few goals from somewhere!
Apparently he's in advaced talks with Chelsea... Why would he want to go there? Just 'cus they're top of the league; can pay him more money; play in the Champions League and are in London. He'd be missing out on Europe's largest covered market, cobs, pork-pies-a-plenty and a relegation battle! The man is obviously a foolish one.
Defoe scores goals, but he wont be coming here. Dont know this guy and dont know Rijeka, but do trust Steve Walsh. We do need to recruit but would have thought creativity in midfield and defence also needs looking at. If we are prepared to spend another £8 mill on a striker, then I wonder how much the total budget will be for January spend ,......... and who will be spending it.
A random name, playing for a team that none of us have ever heard of? Ed must be wetting himself with excitement
Oooooohhh this is fun again! Even more fun without the rumours though and they just sign without any notice!
He'll probably go to Chelsea, although if he does he will end up on loan somewhere, most of there reserve players do. At least with Defoe you're getting proven PL quality.
Yep, striker is the only role Chelsea don't have a million options for, so you'd imagine he'd go there. Why would any striker prefer to come here than Chelsea?
We have to be very careful and make sure we not paying big money for a player to be here for 6 months like QPR did with Loic Remy. I would much rather gamble on Jordan Rhodes and then if we did go down he would be happy to go down with us and get us back up rather then sulking that he doesn't want to play in the championship
We went in for him, he wanted to come and we had agreed a fee and then at the last moment Blackburn's owners pulled out because we wanted to structure the deal in a way that didn't suit them. We might try again in January, knowing that Blackburn are doing **** and we aren't scoring many goals, but given that we spent £10m on Hernandez in the Summer, it's probably not likely. We will be looking for another striker, so I expect us to be looking at similar targets to you.
