Just found this article from todays bbc site http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18922082 some interesting quotes from cech I don't believe he has proved he is a great manager but he has proved he deserves a chance to show if he can build on his success with porto. I just hoped we wasn't the club to give him that chance but now he is here, lets see if he is as good as some believe.
No, it does seem the players outside the old guard were happy with him, which sort of confirms what was said about the problems with players like terry and lampard.
That also disproves the theory Chelsea fans like to put about that he didn't know what he was doing - it sounds like they listened to him in training, then fell back on old habits when playing matches.
Trouble is people's pasts follow them as do performances and records. What a coach did at one club he will do the same at the next club with tactics etc. Mark Hughes will always be Mark Hughes....mediocre where ever he goes as will Sam Allardyce be. Things did start well at Chelsea with AVB and I said just wait until he loses one and we'll see what happens. What did? Defeats came. I think the same will happen to us.
Not necessarily - Ramos' performances and records didn't follow him from Sevilla, whilst Di Matteo's didn't follow him from West Brom to Scamford Bridge...not yet, anyway.
Croydon RDM hasn't had a full season at Chelsea yet so let's see what happens when he does,I'm willing to bet they will do a WBA and finish mid table with him in charge. Spurfectionist, you could tell by Chelsea's lacklustre performances and AVB's whingeing that they were in a delicate state and would fail with him in charge.

He doesn't need redemption, he wasn't walking into the situation he thought he was at Chelsea. Not saying he didn't make mistakes but I'd far rather he made them at Chelsea. With Spurs he has a squad that are happy to work with him, no need to turf out the old guard and having the benefit of learning lessons from last season. It's not ideal yet, he still needs to finish off the squad but I said all along this would be the best time for us to change manager. Modric needs replacing and other positions needed strengthening so why not do it with a young manager who knows what he wants and can stay for the long term. Redknapp only built for the short term, hence why so many of his signings had to be sold on again once we'd actually reached the level we were trying to get to.
No, and it makes me like Cech, on the theory that anyone saying something good about AVB is having a dig at Terry, Lampard and friends...
It's a great shame people believe this myth about player power at Chelsea. Cech wasn't the only one unhappy to see the back of AVB. Terry, Meireles, Bosingwa and Mata to name a few were also unhappy with his sacking. At every club there is always going to be difference of opinion on managers. Some Spurs players will prefer Arry's methods and some will prefer AVB's. That's just football. I'd sooner believe people connected to the club than I would a bunch of middle class toffs who have most likely never kicked a ball in their lives and were probably picked last in PE
There will be a football ground full of referees at every match this season judging AVB as there is at every match in the league.
It seems to me AVB has been sold up the river by ENIC, and he will be slaughtered by the media starting after we lose at the Toon on Saturday. I can't believe how he's been treated so far, it's a disgrace.
That's the positive pre-season spirit Losing is the best thing that could happen to you, it did Arsenal the world of good losing 8-2 to United as without that they wouldn't have made top 4. The signings will come just be patient
Arsenal made pretty poor signings though, apart from Arteta. We'll panic buy at best - more likely we just won't respond. I almost can't believe how negative I am about this season atm - normally I'm fairly positive about where Spurs are heading but it's gonna take a LOT for me to think like that for this season.
I don't think anyone is that overly positive though apart from City. United still have problems in midfield and defence, Chelsea still have problems up front, Arsenal still have internal problems weighing them down.
