I was astonished to read this today about the Man U cup tie. It really is worth a read and illustrates what a selfish inconsiderate and unpleasant lot Man U fans really are. Click on this link http://www.theifo.co.uk/adjudications.html and then click on Disorder at the Southampton v Manchester United FA Cup Tie 03.06.2011 It takes a little while to load but believe me it is an astonishing read.
Should we draw them again in a cup I hope that we have learned the lesson and are fully prepared to make sure the little blighters behave themselves.
They were useless, I saw one bloke chuck his Werther's original wrapper on the floor and another bloke had his flask nicked. Boscombe stewards just stood there leaning on their zimmer frames and did nothing................
My mate is a steward at Bournemouth and he said he noticed quite a few of our fans in the home end, he just let them stay put because he couldn't be bothered to deal with them
It just goes to show what mindless hooligans go to football matches from some of the bigger clubs. MU have always had this reputation of ignoring the seating regulations ever since the law was brought in. So Either they scrap it and allow terracing again or they deal with it and get it stopped. They could contain the situation to trafford by banning MU fans from other grounds. Then it is up to united as to how they deal with not wanting to sit fans at their own ground. In addition they should make MU Pay the home teams for the lost revenue from the game. They would soon do something then.
Our supporters wont sit down at most away games nowadays, so we can hardly preach to Man Utd............
It isn't just Man U fans. The standing rule is no better than the speedbumps we have everywhere. If people want to speed, they'll speed. If people want to stand at a match, they'll stand. It's just a nanny state gone mad in that respect. Yes the Hillsborough disaster was absolutely tragic and to an extent you can understand everything that came out of it. However, how many BILLIONS of people had been through the turnstyles to stand and watch a game in the century before it? Statistically, you are more likely to be struck by lightning whilst presenting your winning lottery ticket to Camelot than be involved in another Hillsborough. Despite that, it's sit down for everyone. That said, I bet the woman complaining is: A member of her neighbourhood watch scheme A subscriber to both Which magazine and the Daily Mail A keen viewer of Points of View A friiend of Esther Rantzen on Facebook Sporting a perm
It is hard to comprehend why some individuals set out to cause trouble, particularly with such total disregard for disabled fans from their own club. That is the crux of the report. When you have that many mentalists there is little that can be done. No matter how many stewards and police were present, any tougher action would have simply caused a pitched battle to develop. Perhaps the only solution is safe standing areas?
Most Man utd fans who go away arn't "lads" they are mostly wannabees, who enjoy the feeling of thinking they are hard in a large group. Having said that, where were the old bill anyway? If its public disorder, they should step in, but Hants old bill are only ever interested in CCTV policing these days. Darn't get their nail varnish chipped by actually clipping some oiks round the ear.
TBF, as the report said, if police and stewards had got more involved it would most likely have led to a pitched battle, which would have put fans in real danger.
Saints PAY the police to be there, they are supposed to be the professionals, it's pathetic they never want to get involved and leave it to a steward on minimum wage to sort out.
true, but i like to think that even our most stupid hooligan fans would give space to disabled fans. we actually have class
Is that right LD? I know there was some problems up at Wembley about standing fans. I hadn't realised that this was normal.
so because of the actions of some brain dead northerners, we cant sell as many tickets? pathetic. man united should reimburse us the loss for all future "big" games.
