Is it just me, or is anyone else worried?
Holty with us for one more season to pass the baton, lead the line and make the running when chips are down?
Or out with the old and a new broom sweeping clean and it's all shiny and youth-centric?

Poor management by the club. (Not just CH though)

Not concerned myself. I'm no happy clapper but I'm excited about RVW joining us and in Becchio we have a solid option too (and this could be just the opportunity he needs to show us what he can do). I've no doubt there is activity underway to bring further fire power into the club in this window too. Also the ongoing discussions with other playmaking / attacking midfielders might lead us to go with just 1 official striker up front anyway hence i'm not ready to to raise the alert level to "Canary Call" just yet.

Fully appreciate we need depth of cover but I don't expect the plan is to approach Aug 17th with just two strikers in the squad.

At the end of the day. Our strike force was not clinical enough last season and to improve that you need to move players on and improve on them. Were likely to see 2 players come in, and I will say poor management of the club if we sign players that dont improve upon that.

...only half as strong as it will be in about six weeks time when the season actually starts. Simple question that one <ok>

Have to say I'm gutted that Holty has gone, but I have absolutely no concerns at all that Hootun won't bring in a couple more top strikers to replace him and the others who have also left. As has been said many, many times there is plenty of time left this summer to make the deals so I really don't understand this panic and negativity amongst some of us, I really don't.

Agree totally with #5 (especially the Ashes part <ok>) and #6.

If, as stated, Wigan match NCFCs valuation of Holt and it suits him to move there - and the money is wisely invested on a replacement player, then it should suit all parties.

Plus if he does go, and is not remembered with the same affection as Dublin and Huckerby, then that would be shameful behaviour by our fans.

Carlton Cole is still unattached, having been released by the Hammers.

My concern is that in putting ourselves in a position where other clubs know we have only 2 strikers and will need more. We have seriously undermined our negotiating position. That said, given that our prefered system of play will likely involve 1 up top, perhaps we could get away with three strikers but I'll still be surprised if there ain't 4 come the first game or at worst the end of the window.

    Ba!

To the Mongers of Doom I seriously doubt that those running NCFC would allow our top scorer and captain to move without being somewhat confident that they will have a replacement lined up and ready to sign on.

There are plenty of strikers on the market currently so if Celtic decide not to sell Hooper then we buy someone else. We are in the happy position of having cash to spend regardless of whether we sell or not. If Celtic wanted to play hardball and demand £10m then us having Holt or not makes little difference. We could have afforded it then and we can afford it now.

I am sure that the club have a rabbit up their sleeve. McNally always is a step ahead of the game and prefers to do his business in private rather than via Sky Sports.

If Holty goes the king will be dead but I am convinced that we won't have to wait long for a new coronation.

I gree with you Mary. Why does everybody seem so keen to write Becchio off? What would be wrong with a front 2 of Wolfswinkel playing just behind Becchio?

I don't think the style of play suited Becchio last season, perhaps with a change to a more attacking style we will see the best of him.

i think you'll find the main problem with becchio was that he wasn't fit enough when he joined, hence his bit-part roles.

It could be the good general's choice of who he would like to be Holt's replacement <whistle>

<laugh> Becchio has never been fit. He just doesn't run around enough

This isn't a wum just saying I wouldn't be pinning any hopes on Becchio next season, probably the most unco player in the game
