What was Kenny sacked for again? Anyroads, no point changing the manager again, and whilst it's no good during a crisis (and that's what it IS) looking for scapegoats, does anyone seriously think Borini adds anything to the sum total? Be interesting to see who's off first - FSG or Suarez? Think Stevie will decamp to LA soon too, and who can blame him? And worst of all? Now there's no need to watch highlights on telly, I have to watch a download of Les Miserables. Joy.
I watched the game today after coming back from Brentford v Chelsea... yep... we found that League 1 teams are quite good as well! Was good to be back at the terracing though! Anyway when Oldham went 3-1 up, there was no real sustained pressure from you. Had you thrown everything at Oldham for 30 mins you would have scored twice at least. In the end you only did so for the final 10 minutes and thus you got your goal. Borini looks an odd signing. He looks... well... crap. Tbh the sooner you are rid of him the better... Were Suarez to leave then you would have a problem because at times, you do rely too much on him. If he doesn't perform then it's hard to see how you are going to win a game...
We should sign Javert, at least he puts his mind to it and sticks to a task. To the rest of your post and in honour of the late Michael Winner I say 'Calm down dear, it's a commercial'
How old are Gerrard's kids? Considering he's never moved away from Liverpool, I can't really see him moving to America and dragging his family with him
I'm calm - infact I can feel rigor mortis setting in. Probably in sympathy for our prospects of improving in the near-to-medium future.
You try watching Anne Hathaway singing "I Dreamed A Dream" when you're in my mood. I read the book for A level and that was depressing enough without them singing how miserable they are. Sponk.
Tbf , Jones was **** Coates was **** Borini was **** Robinson was **** Sterling was poor Wisdom was poor Allen was mediocre Henderson was mediocre Sturridge was mediocre Skrtel was average Suarez was average Subs Gerrard was ok Downing tried Shelvey was poor Coates , Jones and Borini bring **** all to the team except mistakes ... Sell them in the summer if not the next few days. Rodgers was on about he brought Borini to Swansea in Jan. and he helped them kick on, What he failed to mention was that was in the Championship.
Just the league and Europa to compete in now. To be fair, I hope we do well in Europa, think it has a better pull in terms of players looking to sign and just prestige ( again imo). Arsenal, lord we need a result against these!
I disagree with the Borini comments. Yeah he was poor but he tried, ran a lot off the ball and linked up alright in the box. He had one bad miss and was anonymous though. Nothing I'd sell a 21 year old for. Downing may have tried but he's so poor that trying doesn't help us at all. He did **** all. He lost the ball so many times and couldn't even beat a League One defender ffs. I actually have no idea what he does to warrant a place in the squad week in week out. We can't judge the strikers for being poor given that Rodgers played 4-2-4 with no muscle in the midfield. We couldn't hold the ball properly at all, meaning the strikers had little to no chance of retaining possession. The defenders played hoofball because we had no link up play or muscle in midfield. That lead to their exposure, no one to cover them and as such I'm not going to throw the book at Coates. Its a match with 3/4 defenders being inexperienced in front of a keeper that was bloody stupid today. For the first goal the ball should have been marked by Skrtel. Yes it was Coates's man but the ball was let through by Skrtel not jumping. Another tactical masterclass by Rodgers, a nice experiment to show how versatile he is at getting on my ****ing nerves. 2 midfielders? One of which has the physical presence of a 7 year old with polio? Throw some muscle in there. Given that we played like headless chickens Shelvey couldn't have done worse had he played. If we are going to play a passing Barcelona style game we better learn how to control the ball. So many simple passes gone astray, first touches bouncing like Kuyt's did, etc. How is the defense going to defend if you lose the ball in midfield from a Brad Jones pass? Speaking of which, who taught him how to distribute the ball? Royal Mail? Today pissed me off. I can't blame all of the players but the tactics and formation were bloody awful. We need to spend more time on the training ground and less on camera.
Once again people are harsh on Borini... Suarez wouldn't have scored if it wasn't for the run made by Borini which dragged 2 players out and created the space on the right of the box. He makes fantastic runs off the ball, better than most our squad atm, and can improve with time to be either a wide forward or a central forward. I don't think he knows where to play right now, and I don't think Rodgers knows either.
I disagree, I think its the managers fault for picking the players he did and setting the team up in the way he did. 2 in midfield just wasn't enough and didn't work, especially with Allen not being the most physical player ever. Had it been Gerrard/Lucas + Henderson then it might've worked but there was nothing between our defenders and attackers. Had we sacrificied Sterling or Borini for Gerrard/Shelvey/Lucas and had 3 in midfield instead then I reckon the result would've been a much more positive one. It was a poor result for us but I don't think we were that bothered about today's game. Wednesday's game is the big one for us, win that and Oldham will be forgotten.
..and yet without him we'd have lost 3-0 and Sterling wouldn't have been given a golden chance to tie up the game when we were 2-1 down, just a shame Sterling can't shoot for **** and has the power of a 90 year old nun in his legs. Watch him play. Stop moaning. He's got a footballing brain and will come good.
Agreed. He has a great positional sense which is rare. Not many players have that. Many world class players don't have that. I feel that the service to him and the pressure to score is what leads to his problem. Secondly why is he suddenly a scapegoat? The people who are willing to forget Downing's 1 and a half seasons with us because of 3 mediocre games, are the same people who aren't willing to give 3 to Borini. Borini has been injured for months and is 21, what's Downing's excuse?
Downing tried I don't think Gerrard will move, I think after 2005 he accepted the fact he was going to stay here until the end of his career. I can't see him jeopardising his one club title for a money move, he's surely got enough in the bank.
