not my cup of tea, but took the wife to see him a few years ago and he was brilliant, but a deeply troubled man.rip
Blimy another megastar gone,no age either, same age as me R-I-P legend. It does bring home how short time can be.
Not my taste at all but sad none the less and he did have a great voice. As Wings Of A Crow has said, a really troubled individual.
I never really got into his style but a very popular, worldwide artist, I dread later today, my daughter is coming for our xmas celebrations and she loves the bloke, she will get pissed and it will be all my fault because of my opinions, oh well a Dad is a Dad.. RIP mate.
Very sad at 53. Bumped into Andrew Ridgeley at Old Trafford whilst queuing for some tickets. He looked painfully thin and I would have put money on him going first.
Can stardom ever be reached without finding all kinds of problems? Would suspect it wasn't heart failure but nonetheless a loss to the music world. RIP.
Very, very sad. Brilliant singer and artist. How many of us danced to "careless whisper" at the end of the disco when it was grab any girl you could for a slowy? Pity that his life descended into chaos but he helped define a generation and for that he will be fondly remembered.
We had to tolerate a special 16 track playlist my Missus created in his honour yesterday... If it was Heart Failure then I suspect it was possibly brought on by substance abuse.
Far as i'm aware he didn't. I met him in a recording studio and spent the afternoon in close proximity, and he was as clean as a whistle. Loads of energy, very well mannered and friendly, extravagantly talented, a nice guy but with private demons he kept to himself. Far as I could see, his worst problem was an addiction to working as hard as possible for as long as possible, but then he loved his work. Its a natural assumption for some strange reason, for people to think that just because he was a successful musician George would be up to his eyes in drugs and God knows what. That may be the case sometimes, but the truth is music is such a difficult arena in which to become successful that anyone so fragile as to succumb to the temptations of self abuse doesn't last long enough to get there, or stay successful for very long. You have to be at your very best all the time, and people are rarely at their very best when they are ****-faced All I know is George was a decent human being, who felt the pain and anger of human misfortune and injustice, and was not self obsessed enough to not try and make the world a better place if he could. That makes him better than most of us really, doesn't it
Doubt it was that. He was a big believer in supporting the illness, so to hide the fact he had it would no doubt set back the hard work done in awareness of it. Did he not get into trouble with being high and crashing his car a few years back? My money is on what Angelic says
Well being, or having been in the business, and having met him, you'll know a lot more then me and the tabloid press Rickster, so thanks for sharing the insights.
I can only say my view on this guy has changed completely, he helped, contributed and gave relentlessly to all causes and his only request was he remained anonymous, read some of his history coming from all sources, it just goes to show, you can never, ever tell a book by it's covers. I have learned yet another lesson in life, I'll say it yet again RIP big man..
He donated the full sum towards one ladies cause to raise money for an op. She failed to raise enough but he chipped in giving her the 15k she needed. Surprising what they do without wanting thanks and recognition etc. Bit like I always thought Romaldo was a self important tit, but when I found out what he donated towards children charities I changed my opinion of him.
