Sunderland Target Shock Swoop for £10m-Rated England Winger Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has revealed the club are looking to make some signings when the transfer window reopens in January and reports claim he has identified Adam Johnson as a priority. The Manchester City winger was previously a target for the Black Cats whilst at Middlesborough, but opted for a move to Eastlands. However, Johnson has struggled to hold down a regular first-team place which has led to speculation linking him with a move away from City. Liverpool and Tottenham have both been mentioned as possible destinations, but according to tribalfootball.com, Sunderland are also interested in the 24-year-old England player. And Bruce has admitted that the club are looking to sign a left winger. Bruce said: "We know what we want - we haven't got a natural wide left player, so let's see if we can go and get a real, proper one. That's where we're at now." Despite being a fringe player at City, Sunderland will need to offer at least £10m to take Johnson to the Stadium of Light.

3 signings in Jan that would put us in the top half by the end of the season: Striker: Pappa Demba Cisse £18m Winger: Adam Johnson £10m Defender: Ned Onouha £3m Total £31m I would sacrifice Cattermole to make the above happen Catts £10m Gyan loan £6m Gordon £3m Total £19m Net spend in Jan £11m I would say that is almost possible. The big problem with Johnson will be wages, I can't see how we could get round that unless its a loan. Personally I think Johnson is worth closer to 20m based on Hendseron, so I guess we will see.
I wouldnt put me shirt on Johnson signing..its like bloody slamming the stable door shut after the horse has fooked off !!!!! We had our chance before City moved in and bloody dilly dallied about. Now it would seem that Nzog is unsettled at Villa and we may move back in for him...why didnt we bloody do it origionally !!!! The current management just seems to lack foresight in my opinion
I would be absolutely ecstatic if this were to actually happen. Oh yes and the Adam Johnson bit as well.
Said it before - it won't happen. City will be paying him a fortune, they have CL football, look a good bet to win the PL, he's just moved over there, etc. etc. Love it if it were true though. I'll supply the lube for the Cest-Syd love in....
