Carlo Ancelotti *insists he would have no problem swapping riches for rags and managing a mid-table side if he waves goodbye to Roman Abramovich’s millions this summer.

Ancelotti is expected to be sacked by Chelsea after failing to win a trophy in his second season.

But the Italian says he would be happy to take a job at a lower level if he leaves Stamford Bridge and is adamant that he is not motivated by money.

“Would I work for Stoke or Birmingham? Why not?” said Ancelotti, who won the double with Chelsea a year ago.

“I have respect for all the teams and all the jobs of my colleagues – it doesn’t matter if you manage a top team or a smaller team.

“Money has never been the motivation for me. It’s the same for the players, their motivation is to be the best.”
