When we left, Arsenal had peformed a mad scramble to sign Baines, Cahill, M'vila, Hazard and Kaka, in addition to Chu Young. Mertesacker and Santos are not at Arsenal in this parallel universe. Arsenal have just beaten Swansea 5-1 and Dortmund 2-0, and now travel to Blackburn away.
So for so good for Arsenal and Ancelotti The wenger days are long forgotten at Arsenal - From Teetering above the relegation zone in August to 3rd place mid october, Carlo Ancelotti has done well. Carlo Ancelotti has won every single game in the league since taking over and ushering in a new era of spending, with Robin Van Persie topping the Goalscoring charts and Kaka topping the assists. The only lowpoint of the Ancelotti era at Arsenal so far was the shock defeat at Olympiakos, but Arsenal still top their champions league group, and are progressing nicely in the carling cup. They have been unfortunate to draw league leaders Manchester City, however. The game of the season so far has undoubtedly been the 3-5 victory for Arsenal in the North London derby, with FIVE goals from Robin Van Persie. Suggestions that Van Persie may move to Real Madrid for £50m have been laughed off by manager Ancelotti and player alike, with Van Persie saying "I will see out my contract at Arsenal, and hope to end my career here." By contrast their rivals Tottenham are having a terrible season. Harry Redknapp's loss of Luka Modric and failure to sign a striker, except for Emmanuel 'Terribuel' (as called by the fans, after a whopping ZERO goals in 8 appearances) Adebayor, have led the calls for him to be sacked, as Tottenham languish in seventeenth. Other teams doing well include Stoke, who have been helped by results like the incredible 1-0 at Manchester United, to jump to seventh. But the real suprise package have been Wolves, who proudly sit 5th after eight games. League Table: 1 Man City 21 2. Man Utd 19 3. Arsenal 16 4. Chelsea 15 5. Wolves 15 6. Liverpool 14 7. Stoke 14 8. Newcastle 11 9. Wigan 11 10. Aston Villa 10 11. Everton 9 12. QPR 9 13. Fulham 8 14. Bolton 7 15. Norwich 7 16. Swansea 7 17. Tottenham 5 18. West Brom 4 19. Sunderland 3 20. Blackburn 2
I honestly don't know, I think it got purged in the massive 'Transfer threads should all be murged' idiocy that's just happened. I mean LOOK AT THE FRONT PAGE. 'moved moved moved'. Ah ****, lost the results page. Please guys, don't analyse this story and say 'HAHA, HOW COULD TOTTENHAM LOSE TO TEAM X AND YET STILL BE ON Y POINTS! YOU FAIL!". I promise the season will turn out very good for many, many clubs.
you have not mentioned the carling cup result, was it 1-0 or 2-0, er tongue in cheek, floreat salopia
The bit about RVP never leaving is already sort of true. Each summer he's linked with a move away from us, yet he always chooses to stay.
I can confirm that Stoke will not be winning at Old Trafford this season. There is as much chance of Wigan winning at Old Trafford.
Tut Tut how could Mr Samurai have forgotten about that? Perhaps that is yet to come. Watch this space
Regarding the Carling Cup result, do you mean the Shrewsbury one or the upcoming game against Man City?
Youthful Arsenal get the job done with 1-0 victory A young arsenal side proved that you can win with kids - but not by much, it seems. A line up including James Shea, Ryo Miyachi and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain (Goalscorer) beat Shrewsbury town, although they were expected to score a lot more. Nevertheless, Arsenal are in the hat for the next round, where they can join a whole host of clubs, except for Tottenham, of course, who slumped to a 3-0 defeat at High-Flying Stoke.
Gee whizz Spurs are having such a bad year. One almost feels sorry for them BTW Mr Samurai, is there a return in the future for Arsene?
Arsenal look to continue streak as Chelsea tie proves intriguing for Ancelotti's boys please log in to view this image When Carlo Ancelotti walks onto Stamford Bridge tommorow, he will be leading an Arsenal side, fresh from Victories at Marseille and Stoke, having only one blip in his time at the gunners - a freak loss to Olympiakos. In that game, where Arsenal went down to 7 men after a punch to Theo Walcott's nose led to a mass brawl, many blamed Olympiakos's Olof Melberg for the 3-2 loss rather than any tactical fault of Carlo Ancelotti. Other than that, Carlo has won every game since taking charge. With a great squad at his disposal that can surely push Manchester City and Manchester United for the premier league title, he will look at the sacking at Chelsea that at the time he was enraged about as a blessing in disguise. His old club are now fifth in the premier league, with the pressure already on Andre Villas Boas to do better. Whereas Arsenal are equal on points with Manchester United, five ahead of Chelsea and seven ahead of Liverpool. All this while only being 2 points behind leaders Manchester City. "Certainly," says Ancelotti, "I've enjoyed my Brief time here. I cannot understand what (Samir) Nasri said about this stadium, it's the best I've ever seen, and I've worked in the San Siro," The AC milan stadium is regarded by many to be one of the best in the world, holding a large amount of fans and history, but Ancelotti thinks that the Emirates will be the same in a few years. "This place just needs a few trophies. And I seek to bring them." If that's what the stadium takes to be great, then Arsene Wenger will never see it like that. He will, however, get to see the 'less nice' in ancelotti's words San Siro at least twice a season, as he has just been appointed manager of AS Roma. The Italian side have sacked Luis Enrique after a dissapointing start to the season that saw them in 14th, and hope the experienced manager will lead them to glory. As for Arsenal, the future looks bright. With Ancelotti at the helm, it looks like Success is finally set to come.
He has just become manager of Roma. But will his attacking football break down the tough, defensive style of Italian Clubs? We shall see...
Did he take Squillacci and La Bomba ( B52 ) with him? What about Flappy and Vito? Mannone that is, not Corleone
Squillaci has agreed a deal to sign for Lille in the January window. Bendtner is reportedly frustrated at Arsenal after Frimpong drew a cock on his locker. Mannone has gone out on loan to Bristol City, because David James is too old.
Boy Lille must be mighty pleased with us. Presumably they paid money for Squills too. Did the fan club bring out a brochure for him? Fortunately for Frimpong, drawing such things on another player's locker is not a yellow card offence BTW my abiding memory of Carlo Ancellotti at the match at The Emirates was him looking somewhat bewildered with his blue mitts as we pumped one goal after another pass Cech. Walcott's goal was really out of the top drawer Look forwarding to tomorrow's instalment
Chelsea failed to spot the Hazard as Ancelotti Crushes old Club please log in to view this image Eden Hazard was the real star as Arsenal crushed Chelsea 4-0 at Stamford Bridge. Hazard provided a cross for Kaka to score on the 9th minute. Thomas Vermaelen scored a header from a Corner on the 12th minute as the chelsea defence crumbled. And soon after Hazard himself grabbed a goal after dribbling past a stunned David Luiz to slot in. Chelsea showed small signs of a fightback but Hazard wasn't finished, drilling in a shot from outside the box on the 78th minute to put it out of doubt and secure three points for the gunners. Manager Carlo Ancelotti was delighted with his team's performance, saying "Sure, it was my old club, but three points is three points, and I'm delighted with the whole squad, but especially Eden Hazard for his excellent contribution." But for Andre Villas Boas, only fear. Ancelotti's Successor is manager of a team that is now seventh, and the sack looms for him, with Guus Hiddink apparently in the line *yet again* to replace him. For Arsenal, Celebration. Two months ago, Champions League Qualification looked uncertain, but now, Ancelotti's men are looking up to Manchester City, still the team to beat.
