Well I haven't had a good moan for a while, but then why should I when this fella does it so much better.
Trust Gills to put a damper on a fabulous week ! As I mentioned in the ARGRS thread, I've had a brilliant week in so many ways ---- I suppose that I shouldn't be surprised that Gills have taken a bit of shine off it ! We had two matches - against lower league opposition ( Cambridge and Orient ), where Gills have failed to score. This is despite, at times, fielding most of our stronger players ( and O'Gilvie and Hanlan in whom Portsmouth are allegedly interested ---- I think they've got Hanlan lined up for leftback )..........and..... ......if we 'bossed the game'' - as Evans quoted, why couldn't we make either goalkeeper do any work ?................ I just hope that all the rubbish I seen from the live streams doesn't become a habit ----- otherwise you can forget about flying or sitting ducks - because our goose will be truly cooked by the opposition in 'real' games.... ......... and I don't want brb or gioblues calling fowl ( that's how he'd spell it ) on my criticism - or will he be too 'chicken' to respond ? ......... has anyone got used to going 'cold-turkey' without live football ?
The friendlies have been awful to watch. Football been poor and atmosphere even worse. I really don't like games with no supporters. Obviously there won't be any for the first few games. Season ticket holders may be able to watch the home league games for no cost. (Yes I know we have paid to watch live via a season ticket.) I don't know if I can be bothered though. Probably watch after I know score lol. In October season ticket holders could be allowed to go in stadiums, then I might start to get into it. Scally has said be statement on Tuesday. All could be revealed.
gioblues -- in all seriousness ( for a change ) - It saddens me to hear what you say - about 'not bothering' about doing ifollow. I am sure that you will change your mind. Although I share your sentiments about what we've had with the friendlies. For me, I rarely go to these matches - because I know that the lack of 3 points rarely brings out a true competitive commitment from the players. I would like to think that when the league action starts, there will be sharper focus on the pitch ------- but --- If people have tuned into the streamed matches, they will hardly be encouraged to return to Priestfield. They will assess that there is little prospect of entertainment - and cold turkey or not, they / we, haven't had live football for 6 months --- has not going to Priestrfield become a new 'normal' ?
I agree with your sentiments. I'm pretty pee'd off with the club tbph, despite airing positive views during the main days of lockdown. I would like to think we all fully understand the financial implications for our club, and many other football clubs, but sometimes I think we are taken for being mugs, not worthy of being kept informed. We've had the predicament of this virus for five months now, so we all know the situation, but I find the communication lacking, Tuesday is not good enough. I look around at other club boards/sites/media, such as Hull, Sunderland and Peterborough, and it's all talk of link for games, and bubbles for matches, what we got nothing! Even Colchester could muster a link. Tuesday may well be a convenient date for the Chairman, but we should have known what is going on by now and why haven't we got decent streams set up, with live footie debates. We are supposed to be in the 21st Century now, not still stuck in the days of Fred Flintstone! I hear Scally's message is on route... please log in to view this image Rant Over.
Look we all know communication from the club has never really been its strong point, it's one of the many quirks that comes with being a Gillingham fan. Having no idea what's going on. With regards to I-Follow always make sure that you use the club's own I-Follow for matches, including away games. The reason of this is that the club keeps 70% of the revenue from each subscription/viewing. I know this will only apply to STH's for away and cup games but every penny counts at this moment in time. If anyone questions my information, then fair enough, I can't blame you. I got it from Darragh MacAnthony's (Posh Chairman) weekly podcast which is fairly reliable. Also a good listen for if anyone wants a behind the scenes idea of what happens at a club at our level.
I think we do need to clarify that it is 70% of net revenue, so if it costs £10 we don't get £7, the running/administration costs are taken out first. That doesn't mean it's not worth doing, so everyone needs to go on the club site and sign up.
So just to clarify guys, are the club going to be screening all our LEAGUE games, home and away on I-Follow?
brb - don't be lazy - read the Chairman's letter ( if not my thoughts ) in the 'Plebs' thread .... it says ALL games ( there - you see - I can be helpful )
Well I just assumed that everyone knew it was £10 per I-Follow game. We keep £7 and the remaining £3 goes to the EFL broadcasting service for maintenance. I'm not sure what deal we have but we always seem to have the good Radio Kent commentary over ours which certainly aides the experience somewhat.
Well I thought as I had to wait so long for the Chairman's comments and thoughts, I'll decide when I might read it, maybe next Tuesday, and then I just need to decide, what chair I can sit in while reading it!
Not sure all games will be on I- follow. They will be whilst stadiums are limited but if after Christmas we can all go back. (a big if) then unlikely that they will allow it for 3pm ko on Saturday.
