I only watched the game last night, after i knew the score, card count and read the abuse that some players were getting. I allready knew the score and who scored, so i watched it objectively, not with much passion and not jumping around screaming for an equaliser that i knew would not come. For instance, when Cisse or granero missed thier opportunities, rather than cry out in vain, i tried to look at what they could have done better or diffrently, and got a slightly diffrent view of the game to those that attended or watched live i believe.. Firstly (Esp for Yorkie) Credit where its due, Tarbs had a blinder and that goal was worth the entrance money alone. When i saw the 1st view from behind the goal i thought that maybe JJ (who i rate very highly) had slipped or was out of position, but, the subsequent replays of T's goal from diffrent angles showed that it was absolute class and the keeper was beaten "all hands down" For me, the important thing regarding T, is what he does now and how he follows up. If he can produce that form next week and after then he will have truely arrived. Of course he gave the ball away sometimes, but so did all our other players so i cannot critcse him for that. The only negative i would say is that he shouldnt have been anywhere near that free kick at the end !! A great performance that did change the whole dynamic of the team and game. As for the rest, I dont think anyone stood out for me good or bad and this then makes me think that MH is to blame. Park is not a LW - how f-ing long will it take him to realise this. AND a captain he most certainly is NOT. SWP didnt do much wrong but we had Hoillet waiting to replace him...in the 83 minute..whats the point of that? Diakite was looking good until the inevitable happened although i think the sending off was abit harsh. A warning would have been fairer. Onuha, well lest said the better really....must try harder ! I have to agree with most, that if we had started with Tarbs or Hoillet on the pitch, i think we would have won. Park got tortured on the left and was over-run. He was obviously singled out as the week link there. As for Wet Spam, they were a typical physical Big Sam team and muscled us of the ball all to easily. Nolan led by example as a captain should and they didnt shirk anything. He is what a captain should be..a leader of men Also lets be fair, both teams could have scored another 2 gaols. C Cole did what he has been doing for the last 10 years, and when he got tired thay bought on another bigger lump to replace him and continue the barage. How thier goals went in, i will never know. I'd be suprised if i ever see that happen again in a footy match anywhere. I know we had injuries at the back, but it seems to me that the whole team selection and formation and tactics were completely wrong. For the record, i dont think we played that bad but i think we played incorrectly. We do still look a lot better than we did last season, except where it counts..and thats the points colomn on the prem table. I'm still not convinced by hughes, but we have a better squad and are playing better football than we have for a long time, so I'm willing to give him a chance short term!! If he doesnt get a few wins soon though it will be adios amigo....
Nice post and a great idea to watch the match like that. I've still got it on Sky but no time. Totally agree re Taraabt's goal. It was the consolation crumb for me. They won with two crap goals while we scored a superb goal that could easily be contender for goal of the month. Onwards and upwards. We are QPR and this is the QPR way.
Good post and what I said If you can watch it again!. The reason SWP is in is clear he holds a nice balance to our play and works very hard. Park is good enough to play anywhere and I secretly hope that he is tried at right back if I am honest Park and Dyer are good players Good players can play anywhere.
Good post Queens. I agree with all that, except personally I would prefer them to bring in a new Manager soonest. I suspect Hughes will not be able to get us up the table, he seems way too conservative, defensive, and unwilling or unseeing of what so many see must be changed.
Queens, I've just half done what you did with the benefit of fast forward and only from when Adel came on. On the evidence of that, this is not a team in crisis or even in danger of relegation. Granero was only denied by a fully stretched JJ who got a strong hand to the strike. Cisse was on target (easy save) and Ale's strike could just as easily have gone for a corner. They were on the back foot until Samba got sent off and even then we looked just as likely to score as they did, if not more so. For those calling for heads, please look at the quality of football being played (barring the first half) and keep the faith for just a little bit longer.
Good points made by all. Just want to mention what worried me was the fact that MH knew WH would play with 3 CM against our 2 and yet he stood watching Faurlin and Granero chasing shadows for 45 minutes. Why did he not change our setup during the first half when he saw we were being overrun in midfield. He seems to be very slow to make tactical changes during a game
Entirely fair point, especially when Granero has not yet quite understood the physicality of the Premier League. Wholehearted support does not mean we can't ask intelligent and relevant questions. wish I had the answer for you.
spot on nuts and the addition of Diakite seemed to answer all the questions asked.. for me.. Im "anti -tarbs" but he was exactly what was needed from the start,,,IMHO... not sure MH has got the philosophy of our club yet...and not sure many will buy into his....?
Why? I'm of the opinion that Hughes' main concern is in not losing and not getting sacked as that would probably be the end of his career as a manager after his last two efforts at City and Fulham. Therefore we have the negative tactics and formations and problems such as the failure to bring on Adel at the right time the other night (should have started imho). Hughes is more concerned about his employment future than QPR which ain't too smart as the two are inextricably linked but there you go. He'll jump before he's pushed, can't afford to be sacked.
Don't get your hopes up Jock. If Hughes is sacked while we are at/near the bottom it's very bad for his career. But it's even worse if he resigns - he's been given everything he's asked for, TF manifestly matches his 'ambition', resignation when we are down just shows weakness, especially after he walked out on Fulham. If he resigned when we were doing well, that would be a different matter.....
I would ad to thid guys..I have no understanding how JJ has not ended up at a top 6 club in his career...he is a quality keeper that has delivered where -ever he r has been IMHO Would love him at QPR
He is a great keeper, totally agree. I knew he'd **** us - see my prediction. I recorded it too, but unbelievably, the box decided to re boot itself at the very moment taraabt scored, so I've got the whole game except that 2/3 minute spell! I must have really pissed someone off. Interesting point above by DT I think re playing park at RB. Could be a good shout.
good report and an interesting read queens. my views on park are well documented, i seem to remember saying it after his first game. he needs to be dropped, but unfortunately he has been made un-droppable really.
