Now that Giggs will be in charge until the end of the season, i'm looking forward to saturday's game to see how we'll play, i hope we get the old United whereby we attack not the crap we've been watching recently.
if you think all the problems lay at Moyes feet, then you're in for a surprise. Yeh sure there'll be some new lease of life from the players initially but the underlying problems will still be exposed (although probably not against Norwich). And before someone takes this out of context, I'm not saying we're a **** team and need a massive overhaul. We don't. But until the problems in midfield and our full backs get sorted we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves if we think Moyes leaving is all we need.
I dunno treble. Written off players and youngsters, the likes of which we have loads of........ they are what van Gaal loves. I reckon we will shock a few of our own and rivals next year.
... and you are playing Norwich, who have won once in their last eight ... and that against the bottom club, Sunderland ... think it's bad timing for Norwich mind ...
You could be right but I think that Evra is spent. Just doesn't have the legs to do the job anymore. And he's French which would make it nigh on impossible for VG to have any real effect. Valencia needs to be got rid also. Used to rate him but he's never been the same player since the injury and having his pants pulled down in the CL final broke him. You know my feelings on Carrick but personally I would only want him as backup. Young is just not good enough. Surprisingly though, the one player who's had the most criticism, may actually flourish under VG as you say - namely Cleverley. He was a promising young talent and showed that in his first season. He is one player VG can transform IMO. I'm also confident VG will build a strong defence between Evans, Smalling and Jones in our centre half pairings.
Will? He's not got the job yet!!! Pretty much agree with your assessment though, on all fronts. I think van Gaal would be fairly disdainful of Carrick for some reason, yes he can pass and move the ball about but he himself has become more or less immobile. Van Gaal might give him a lease of life but I suspect he will consign him to the reserves behind younger players and new signings. Doesn't really take a genius to see Jones and Evans could make a fine CH partnership but that was obviously lost on Moyes, although in his defence Evans was injured most of the season. This said, we STILL need at least one CM, a centre half, a left back and a winger/wide mid. It might mean we don't go after Shaw and Lallana, which would be a shame, as they might not be on van Gaal (or Klopp's!!!) radar. Up front we're fine.
I don't agree about Jones. I had high hopes for him and thought he'd be a top quality CH. However with every game he plays he looks worse and worse. He's a ball watcher and I'm not sure how much game time he will get with a foreign manager. He's been poor this season and has got along way to go before I'd consider him a first choice United CH.
You'll have a nice Di Matteo period with Giggs where United go back to the same old performances in the same old style with the same old players. No doubt you'll get some good wins but won't be any good long term. The next permanent manager will have an even tougher job than Moyes though with so many of the older players off and your better players another year older. He had to revamp the team but had no time to do it - you can't go Spuds style and buy 11 players, so it'll take time. VG would surely be a shorter term option? Martinez isn't really an option, I wouldn't have thought...not this year anyway with Everton having done so well. Not sure I'd say an exciting time to be a United fan. Interesting, perhaps, but not exciting. New managers can go either way.
I dont know. I can see Van gaal liking Jones and him becoming an important player under him. I look at puyol who unlike most Barcelona youth products wasnt technically great or a bag of tricks but was a leader.
Oops Yeh agreed although I think we can just about get away without buying a winger for a season. Creative CM and either a DM or box to box m/f IMO as well as a LB a must. I honestly believe with cover in front our CBs are good enough but I understand why ppl are asking for one.
There you go then, sorted! Jones can be your Puyol and Cleverly can be your Xavi! You will definitely be up there next year. Exciting times, indeed.
Unless I see him in a curly wig I won't believe it. Then again, he'd look like a warped Brian May from Queen and Fellaini would be jealous.
