Leadbitter has joined Middlesborough, David Norris is definitely not coming back and Hewitt looks set to complete his move by the end of the week for a mere £250k. His injury has obviously put the big clubs off but at that money and with his promise it has to be a risk more than worth taking. Let's have more weeks like this please!
And Joel Ward joined Palace because Dougie had more drive and ambition than Jewell!! Really happy with the Hewitt signing but am still worried that we have NO decent CB's or GK's!!!
Spanish, I share your concerns but it's still only May mate. Plenty of time to sort out the CB/GK issues and with Clegg otherwise engaged for the summer, it might just happen. As for Ward, we can't know what was said between the player and PJ, but it seems that Palace's geographical location was a major factor that swung it their way. We're not going to land all our targets and - given that PJ obviously isn't going anywhere anytime soon - let's at least give him the rest of the transfer window and see where that leaves us before we rip him to pieces.
My one biggest hope is that Martinez gets the Liverpool job and Jewell is offered his old job at Wigan!
Speaking about keepers, Steve Simonsen has been released by sheff utd. I don't know what everybody else thinks, but i have always thought of him as a decent solid keeper. We could do a lot worse!
The press reports have said he joined because he was guaranteed to be their 1st choice RB and didnt want to be seen as a utility player.Im glad we didnt sign him. You should be aware that you have to fight for your position and if you can play in more than one you should be happy to fit in anywhere for the team. For me it seems a rather arrogant attitude to take.
going back to that penalty shoot out... Anyone else notice Tommy Miller went and bloody missed his! I nearly fell off my chair, turns out he can miss them after all....
... and so did Alan Lee! Having watched the dire semi finals as well as the dire final it paid off seeing that shoot out, best of all Sheffield United are remaining in League One
